The first thing Astrid thought of after seeing the decaying corpse of her dead sister is about what Ian said the day she left the base in the middle of the infamous Poison Forest.
It had caused a cacophony among the free humans at the base when Astrid told them after just a day into her stay at the base that she wanted to leave. The issue wasn’t because any of them wanted her there, she had just been a desperate screaming kid and they were all older, sturdier with bigger aims that she couldn’t even comprehend at that age. They couldn’t let her go in fear of Astrid stupidly getting caught and giving away their location.
