Marco smiled at me with a look of happiness, knowing that he wouldn't be going to England anymore. But deep down, I couldn't help but feel like I was the reason for his decision.
"Why do you look sad, Gem? Aren't you happy?" he asked me.
"I am happy, Marco. But I can't shake off the feeling of guilt, knowing that you're not going because of me," I replied.
He pulled me into a tight embrace. "Don't blame yourself. I made this decision because I want to stay with you. I want to be with you," he said, releasing me from his embrace. He looked deep into my eyes, and then he gently kissed my lips.
"You need to quit your job, Gem," he said.
I remained silent. Deep inside, I knew I had to quit because I now belonged to Marco.
