I was surprised when Luna Katarina came to get me out of the cells. I honestly expected that when someone came, it would be with the intention of torturing me. I never considered that I would be let go and taken to the Alpha’s office to talk.
Both the Alpha and the Luna have been nothing but gracious. They truly wanted to get to know me and made me feel comfortable enough to talk about myself freely. I’ve been able to get to know them as well, and I have not been disappointed.
They are kind and down-to-earth people. I don’t know their entire story, but I can see why they have a pack that’s not only loyal to them but holds them in high regard. I may not have met many pack members, but it isn’t hard to tell how they feel about their leadership just by watching them go about their daily activities.
I’m terrified to answer Dominic right now. I’m scared that all of the goodwill I just gained will disappear. It isn’t like you told him anything significant.
I know, Mona, but I still spoke to him. I’ve been talking to him since we’ve been here. You saw how the Luna reacted, and that was just over a premonition.
You have to tell them. They need to know that they have a traitor in their pack. Her words stop me cold, and realization dawns on me.
Mona is right, of course. There is someone here who is in constant contact with Brackston. They sought me out in the hospital and let me know that he could get to me at any time. Then they brought me the phone that has me tied to him. If I want to find a way to bring them in, I have to tell them everything.
I swallow and slowly pull my head up. “I… I have been in contact with him since I’ve been here.” Three pairs of eyes are on me, and I can feel the heat. Different emotions are swirling around the room, and it’s very intimidating. I’m silently hoping that this conversation can go as well as the previous, but I’m trying to prepare myself for another trip to the cells.
“How have you had contact? You haven’t left my apartment or even the packhouse. You haven’t even ask to use my phone.” I drop my head again and look back at my hands.
“I was given a phone.” I take a chance to look up the moment the air in the room changes. Everyone is looking at me, and I can tell they won’t wait to listen to the rest of the story.
“When I was in the hospital, a lady came in and brought me a phone. I assumed it was her phone because she took it with you. I didn’t talk to him, but he had sent a picture for me. It was a picture of my brother. She told me that he wanted me to know that he can get to me at any time.” No one says anything, so I push forward. “She found me again, in my room in the packhouse. She gave me a phone and walked out. He called and told me that I had to call him daily with an update on my progress.”
“What have you told him?” I look at Luna Katarina and try to steady my nerves.
“I’ve had nothing to tell him because I haven’t had contact with Skye. I’ve been keeping to myself on purpose because I don’t want to have to lie which would hurt my brother. He’s been pushing me to do more, to venture out of the packhouse more often. He’s updated the phone calls to video calls, but I don’t know why. He hasn’t asked to see anything, so I don’t get it.” A growl rumbles through the room, shaking me to my core. I know it comes from Dominic, but I don’t have time to dwell on that right now.
“Who is this person who’s been making contact?” I swallow and shake my head.
“I have no idea who she is. I know she’s an Omega, but that’s it. When she came into the hospital, she was wearing scrubs. I haven’t heard a name or anything else.” I quiet, and all eyes settle on me. My stomach is turning with anxiety, but I swallow it down. I have to believe that I made the right choice.

Many thoughts went through my mind after that phone call. I considered storming the gates and grabbing her and the child. I thought about roughing up the kid so that I could have some leverage. I thought about doing a lot of things, but I haven't done any of them.
I decided that the best thing to do was to wait. There’s a possibility that the news I received wasn’t accurate. I’d be a fool to show my hand when there’s no reason to do so. I need to make sure that I can keep as much of my plan intact as possible. I can’t let anyone mess this up for me.
The thoughts swirled through my mind all night as I tried to be patient for the next day to come. I need to see what happens when it’s time for that video call. If she doesn’t make the call, I will know all I need to. I will get the rogues together and have them attack, and while they are doing that, I will snatch her and the child.
I told my spy to stand down and wait for my call. If I have to go in, she will need to secure my prizes so I can take them. I had to promise to bring her with me because she says that when she’s found out, they will probably kill her. I don’t care what they do to her, but I made a promise to keep the peace.
Morning came quickly, and I started my day as I usually would. There’s no set time for me to make the call, but I know that I won’t be able to wait too long to do so. I need to make sure that my plan is still in play.
The packhouse is becoming alive around me. I hear the sounds of Omegas moving through the halls, completing their tasks. An Omega asked me if I wanted to eat, but I declined. My stomach is too twisted to be able to handle any food right now.
I put my focus on the papers on my desk. I tried to concentrate on the work in front of me, wanting to be as productive as possible. I do everything I can to keep my eyes off the time. The more you watch time, the slower it passes. Of course, that isn’t how it truly works, but it always seems that way.
