Chapter 8

1092 Words
~Brackston~ I tighten my fist, really wanting to punch something. I make it to the edge of my camp and shift into my wolf. Khan is just as angry and frustrated as I am. I let him have complete control and watch as the forest zips by. Khan avoids all low branches, as well as any rocks or logs in our path. I let my mind wander back to the conversation we just had, and I get even angrier. Khan comes to a stop and gives me control over our body. I shift back and find my right hand, Teddy Hill, waiting for me. He has a hoodie and sweatpants slung over his shoulder. I grab the clothes from him and put them on. I turn and walk in the direction of the packhouse. Thought I was a rogue, huh? Nah, I’m not even close to one. Those at the camp think I’m a rogue; they even think I’m their leader. I am that, a leader. I do give them instructions here and there, but that’s not the only place I have. I wear a scent that dampens my pack smell. “Well?” I feel Teddy’s presence behind me, and I wish he would start talking. “Did you find out?” “I did.” I stop moving and turn to look at my Beta. He has a smirk on his face, so I know he has good news. “It’s confirmed. They do have a child, and it’s a girl.” My world stops as I let his words settle over me. I feel my heart beating wildly in my chest. I’ve been waiting for this information, and it took me all this time to get it. The gold wolf has given birth, and she has had herself a girl. I smile to myself, realizing that this is precisely what I wanted to hear. I turn and hurry to the packhouse, ready to get to the real work. When I heard that there was a gold wolf who had actually survived getting their wolf, I immediately set out to find her. By the time I got any real information, I heard that she was already marked and mated by that bastard Aston. How the f***k could someone go missing and come back four years later? Not just that, but he ends up mating with a gold wolf, a fu.cking legendary wolf. I just don’t understand how the bastard could get so fu.cking lucky. Once that news got out, the idiots descended. They tried to infiltrate the Blackpaw Pack to get to the gold wolf. Of course, they didn’t make it far and were killed. They didn’t realize that getting her was fruitless, a wasted endeavor. From that mess, I heard that she was pregnant, but no one could confirm that. When I heard about the pregnancy, a plan formed in my head. I could get the child, and then I wouldn’t need the mom. I would stage its death so they wouldn’t look for the child anymore. The only issue was that I didn’t know if she was really pregnant. Finally, I know the pregnancy was real, and on top of that, she had a girl. I just need to get the girl, and I will raise her here. When she comes of age, she will get her wolf, and it should be a gold wolf. I will use her to take over other packs and control the werewolf world. That’s where she comes in. I’ve watched her care for her brother, and I know she’ll be a good mom. We will raise the child together as her parents. If I can do that, there will be no way that the gold wolf would deny her dear old dad anything he asks of her. It’s a perfect plan, but I can’t bring it to fruition yet. I don’t have the child, and I don’t have her. I’ve wanted her since my men found her. The others haven’t touched her because I forbade it. I want her for myself, and Khan is in agreement. I don’t have a fated mate. I killed her when I found out that she cheated on me, though I let the men have a go at her first. She was just an Omega who wanted to elevate her status. She meant nothing to me, and it was easy to let her go. Now the door is open to have who I really want, but she won’t agree to it. She won’t just agree to be mine, so I will have to figure out a way to make her. I know I told her she had a choice: do this job or be mine, but she really didn’t have a choice. I need her to get the child, and when she did, I had no intention of letting her go. I want her more than I wanted anyone before, and I always get what I want. A knock on my door breaks me out of my thoughts. I look up, and Teddy is waiting for entry. I motion him over, and he walks toward me. “We’ve been given an invite. Well, the invitation is addressed to the Alpha of the Goldenridge Pack.” “Who’s the invite from?” Teddy doesn’t say anything, making me look at him. The look on his face is actually exciting me. I know this guy; I’ve known him my whole life. If he looks like this, then that means things are looking good for me. “It’s from the Blackpaw Pack. They have invited you to a wedding that will be taking place in three months. The Alpha and Luna will be getting married.” f***k! This can’t be real. There’s no way I’m this lucky, right? I sit back in my chair and look up at the ceiling. My excitement is threatening to spill over, and I’m having trouble containing it. I can send her in and have her get the child ready for me in three months. The wedding would be a perfect cover for taking the child out. There will be so much going on; things are bound to get missed. I sit up in my seat and put my eyes on Teddy. “Please send the reply card. Of course, I would love to attend this magical wedding.” Teddy nods and walks out of the room. This is better than I imagined. Pretty soon, I will have everything I want, and I can’t wait.
