Chapter 16Dusk was falling when I walked back through the woods to the house, still arguing internally over the decision I'd made. Kicking myself for not taking the chance to kiss Caleb when it was what I'd wanted for so long. Applauding myself for having the courage to walk away. Trepidation over what I'd blown off.
Rafe met me in the entrance with my cell phone. “It's secure, Finn. I've pulled the whole damn thing apart and there's no sign of tampering.”
“So that isn't how the Ripper found me?”
Rafe shook his head, his brow furrowed. “Nope. He must have discovered your location some other way.”
“Damn.”
Rafe offered me a reassuring smile. “You're safe here, sweetheart. We'll find him, I give you my word.” He paused for a second, blue eyes gazing intently into mine. “Are you alright?”
