Chapter 22When Caleb said he'd asked Rafe to back off, I hadn't realized Rafe had taken it literally. When we retreated to the house to escape the afternoon heat, Rafe was gone. A large cardboard box sat in the centre of the floor in the entrance, which Channing blithely announced was a gift from Rafe, to apologize for his behavior. I glanced up at Caleb in confusion, and he offered me an encouraging smile. “Open it, Finn.”
I knelt on the tiles beside the box and pulling open the top flaps. Inside the box, I discovered a new set of crafting tools and a large supply of clay. A note sat on top of the tools and I unfolded the sheet of paper, scanning through the contents.
