18 “I’ve got a surprise for you.” Glancing up from my book, I find a dark-eyed Monster standing in the doorway of the living room, looking pleased with himself. I’m sitting on the couch, covered in blankets, taking it easy after being in The Box a few days ago. I put down my copy of Isabel Allende’s The House of the Spirits and c**k my head. “Oh?” I ask.
