I walked towards them. Violet seemed to be talking solemnly with Jillian. Neither of them saw me until we were close. My sister-in-law turned around first. She said something to my wife, and the woman turned around.
Time seemed to stop when our eyes met. The sound of people talking suddenly fell silent, making the room quiet. One by one, the people around us seemed to disappear, leaving just me and her. If only there hadn't been that misunderstanding, I would have kissed her. She was gorgeous.
"Little dove, my friend wants to meet you." I held out my hand to her.
Violet glanced behind me. "I'm sorry, we don't know each other. And my name is Violet," she refused.
I smiled. "We can do this nicely, or I can force you."
