The Lady of Shadows

Payback

    The next morning, I joined everyone for breakfast. Lilith had returned and was happily going over the overjoyed reaction of Celine, who as promised was promoted to Duchess as soon as the documents were in her hands. When she saw me, she stopped in the middle of her tale.

    “Please tell me you did not catch something on fire.” Lilith said. I looked up at her confused, “The bags under your eyes, you look like death. What’s wrong why haven’t you been sleeping?” She questioned.

    “Dominic kissed me.” Was all I managed to get out. I plopped into a chair and waited for food to be passed my way. 

    “He did what now?” She asked. I leaned my head back. 

    “I have no idea what I’m doing, or why you two even care about me. I spent all night freaking out over it because I am lost.” I said. 

    “I was gentle… but if I’m honest I would have loved to kiss her more. I mean after what she was wearing….” Dominic growled and the warm sensation began to stir again. I shook my head violently. 

    “Shadow…” Lilith’s voice was right in my ear. I turned my head to face her and her lips caught mine instantly. Her lips were soft and gentle, in no way demanding like Dominic, but still they commanded my attention. I felt my face begin to heat up and I wanted nothing more than to run away and hide. When Lilith released me, I slammed my head down to the table. It hurt, but it also hid my face. Lilith giggled a little.

    “Quit torturing me…” I groaned at the two of them. The flirting and teasing was one thing when I was in on the joke, but now they were both homed in on me and only me. It was so damn hard to focus on anything when they were around. 

    “Never, you’re adorable when you get worked up.” Dominic answered. I heard Lilith giggle an agreement. 

    “I swear I will get you both back for this.” I said before lifting my head to ask for food. Before the words formed food was brought to me by the maid. I thanked her and dug in. 

    Things were quiet while we worked on setting up the new orders, trade routes, and laws that would merge the two lands. Over a month had passed and I had nearly gotten used to Dominic and Lilith kissing me whenever they wanted to have a giggle. I just shrugged it off most the time now. I had no idea how I was going to get them back. 

    “My lady?” A maid asked I shook my head and looked up.

    “Sorry, Yes?” I asked. 

    “Does the affection between Lady Lilith and Lord Dominic bother you?” 

    “No, it’s not that it bothers me. I just don’t know how I feel about everything and honestly I have no idea how I can get back at them.” I said.

    “Get back at them?” the maid asked. 

    “They do most of it to see me flustered, and I need to get even.” I answered.

    “Well, why not make them stop underestimating you?” 

    “How?” I asked. 

    “Well….” She leaned in and began whispering in my ear. I felt my face heat up, but the girl had ideas. I gulped.

    I took a breath and tried to calm my nerves. I liked the plan the maid gave me, but goodness it was unnerving. It was a two-part plan that would be split depending on who kissed me next. 

    “Oh Shadow!” Lilith’s voice called as she came from nowhere. She was in my face instantly. Her lips touched mine and before I could think twice, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pinned her to the wall beside us. The sharp squeal that escaped her lips as I pressed my knee between her legs pinning her to the spot. I held her like that until I heard Dominic’s footsteps. The sound of him stopping instantly dress my eyes from Lilith to him. I let her go and flipped my hair over my shoulder and walked away. I made it to my room before I could freak out. 

    An hour later Lilith knocked on my door. I let her in, and she was kissing me like her life depended on it. I stumbled back and fell on the bed with her landing on top of me. I felt her hands wonder over my hips and the flush rushed over my face. I closed my eyes and gave into the kiss trying hard not to be worked up. I wasn’t even focused when I heard Dominic’s growl from the doorway which was still wide open. Lilith looked over and grinned at him.

    “I win.” She said. I looked over at him and then back at her. The helpful maid’s words played over and over in my head. Suddenly out of no where I opened my mouth.

    “You know you could come in and close the door.” I said. He and Lilith stared at me before looking at each other. I saw a blush creeping up Lilith’s face and suddenly all I wanted to do was make her weak. Something in me seemed to have snapped because suddenly I was over her with my lips brushing against her neck. That was all the invite Dominic needed. I heard the door close and felt Dominic’s presence behind me. My mind raced but I was enjoying the feeling of power I had over Lilith. I locked lips with her and because of the way I twisted her from straddling me to me on top, her legs were still on either side of me. I pressed closer and ran my hand up her thigh just as Dominic’s hand grabbed my hip and pulled me back against him. My lips pulled from Lilith’s and down to her collar bone. I planted small kisses there as well while Dominic’s erection pressed against my backside. I took a breath and nipped at Lilith’s collar bone with my teeth. With the gasp that came from her I knew I found a soft spot and my hand grazed the inside of her thigh as Dominic cleared his throat.

    Images flashed into my head… I was heated and wanted nothing more then to solidify this moment. 

    Suddenly I opened my eyes and I was alone. I gasped for air. What the hell… I tried to clear my head. I rolled over and saw the moon was high in the sky. I tried to steady my breathing. Little did I know, I was not the only one with that dream. At breakfast the dark circles under both Dominic's and Lilith's eyes told of the night they spent sleepless. The biggest tell was that when they looked at me, their eyes grew dark with lust. I gulped. 

    "From the looks of it the dream magic worked." The maid said with a smile so only I heard. I nodded.

    "Looks like it."
