Abigail POV I froze. Abortion? The word struck me like a blade to the chest, sharp, cruel, final. It echoed in my skull, over and over, until it wasn’t a word anymore but a scream. Kael’s voice was cold, detached, as though the life growing inside me was nothing more than a nuisance to be erased. My heart galloped in my chest, not from fear; no, this was terror. The baby wasn’t just a child. It was my link, my only link, to the Draven family, to a throne of power I had clawed my way toward. And now, with one word, Kael was threatening to sever that. Tears threatened, hot and unwelcome, but I forced them back. My wrists throbbed beneath the enchanted rope. Kael was pacing now, muttering things I couldn’t hear, but I didn’t need to hear him to know his intentions. Then… opportunity.
