Emily stumbled out of Rickard’s office in a daze and took a few steps towards the water dispenser. She poured a glass of water and drank from it. Still in shock, she couldn’t believe that she had agreed to the impossible demand from Bernard Hansen that she agree to be engaged to Oliver. For the world, it would be real but she would know it was a sham. Oliver would never want to marry her, not even in her dreams. A self-deprecating chuckle escaped past her lips and she felt pity for herself.
