Emily reached home before going to Oliver’s place and saw that her brother, David, was home. She walked inside and saw her mother serving him a sandwich.
“Good evening, everyone,” Emily said and snatched the sandwich off David’s plate before he could grab it.
David scowled as he saw Emily taking a huge bite out of it.
“I am hungry,” Emily muttered through a filled mouth.
“Emily! I am making you one. Why did you have to eat his?” Her mother scolded her lightly. “David, I will make you a new one.”
“Where’s the joy in that?” Emily said and sat beside David on another stool.
“How’s Crystal?” Emily asked about his fiancee.
“She’s well. You know how she is doing after the loss of our baby,” David said with a sigh.
Emily nodded with sympathy. “I hope she recovers from it soon.”
