Selene’s POV A week slipped by, slow and heavy, inside these four walls. The air felt stale, almost thick. Jasper and I didn’t step outside, not once. Life went on right outside our windows, the pack’s voices, warriors out training, a howl every now and then, all of it drifting in but never really touching us. We kept to ourselves. We stayed hidden. Like prey pretending to be stone. Every morning, I tried to convince myself we’d go out. Take a walk. Breathe air that wasn’t recycled. Let the sun really find us.
