Dominique's POV
Dragging myself out of my bedroom, I'm miserable, I have been to one hundred and ninety three packs in the last two and a half years and I still haven't foundry mate, my wolf is getting restless, as am I, and I'm slowly losing hope. In the time that I have been away my sister, my future beta and my future Beta's twin sister have found their mates, and to top it all off, my parents are leaving this weekend for three days so I have to stay home and watch the pack while they're gone, meaning I have to take a break from finding my mate for three whole entire days. Being the Alpha King and Queens daughter doesn't have many struggles, but finding my mate is the hardest thing in the world.
"Dominique," I hear my fathers voice from down the hall, I turn to see him with my mother behind him.
"Morning," I grumble as he comes closer, a suitcase in hand.
"Good morning, you remember everything we talked about last night, yes?" He responds, referring to his hour long list of things I already know I need to do while he and mum are away.
"Yes, I remember," I say as mum walks over to me and runs her fingers though my hair.
"I know it's hard for you not having found your mate yet," she whispers as I lean into her touch. "But it's only three days and you have only one pack left in the northern hemisphere and he or she is probably there waiting for you."
"Thank you, mum," I whisper knowing I needed that.
"You're welcome, now while we're gone go get a haircut, it's look shaggy when you leave it this long," she says, pulling at my hair softly before kissing my cheek and walking past me, down the stairs and to the car.
"Listen to your mother and we'll see you in three days," he demands humorously before kissing my forehead and following downstairs and outside.
I stand in the hallway to for another few minutes before walking back into my room, mind linking my barber to book an appointment for me in ten minutes, as I do so I get dressed in a pair of low waisted jeans and a grey singlet. I then dawdle down to the kitchen and grab a banana before starting my walk to the popular barber ten minutes away from the pack house.
When I walk in Shawn, the only person apart from myself I trust to touch my hair, greets me loudly before motioning to the chair in front of him, I move over and slump into the chair before smiling nicely at Shawn. "The usual?" He asks his Italian accent thick, I nod in response before he gets started with caping me up and cutting my hair how I've gotten it for the past three years. "I heard that your parents left this morning, how are you feeling about that?" He asks.
"Well I'm happy that they're getting out of the house for a bit but I just want to find my mate more than anything and having to be stuck here is annoying," I grumble as he clippers away at the sides of my head.
"You are lucky, though, they let you go on such big trips to find your mate, some parents don't do that," he says, I nod in agreement before we both go silent and he finishes off my hair.
Twenty minutes later and my hair is done, I pay and bid goodbye to Shawn and everyone else in the barber shop before strolling to the training field to kill some time.
"Good morning, Dom," I hear Jay yell from where he's changing.
"Morning," I reply before going to the change rooms, changing into leggings and a sports crop top, once dressed I make my way to one of the empty square training areas and motioning for Jay, who was standing by the door of the change room, to follow. "If you beat me in a fight I'll give you tomorrow off and I'll buy you gelato," I say before watching his eyes light up, we both get into position then start, Jay threw the first punch and I expected it like usual and used his own forward momentum to pull him forward and side step to not go down with him.
I laugh as he gets a mouthful of dirt before stumbling back to his feet with a determined look on his face, I swing next but don't punch him, instead using my arm and his movements from his dodge to grab him in a choke hold and tighten until he taps out. "You're too easy," I growl. "And predictable, I think I need a new partner." I mumble making Jay grunt under his breath before smacking my shoulder harder than needed. "Don't be a sook."
"I wanted gelato," he grumbles before storming off, mumbling stupid things under his breath.
"Stop whining," I yell out before turning to my soon to be third expectantly. "Now, same offer stands." I say before I'm tackled from behind by Jay who laughs in my ear.
"You owe me gelato," He says, his arms sneaking around my neck to prove his win.
"Later, now shut up I wanted to train for a bit, so either fight me or let someone else," I say before unhooking myself from his grip and getting back on my feet.
"Someone's grumpy," I hear Miya, Jays mate, tease as she approaches the square with a similar outfit to mine on. I ignore her as she gets closer, pretending I didn't hear her comment and poke Jay in the side, Miya makes it over a few seconds after to poke Jay again knowing full well how much it annoys the 21 year old.
"Stop poking me," he growls.
"I can do what I want," Miya says while poking him again.
"Miya. Stop," he growls louder as she continues to poke him.
"Why?" She giggles. "This is so fu-" Before she could finish her sentence Jay gently pushed her to the floor and tickled her. "No! Stop!" She yells as her laughter fills the large training area.
"Why? This is so fun," he mimics Miya in a high pitched voice, Miya wasn't able to respond through her giggles but pushed against his chest anyway and threw him to the side before straddling his hips and pinching his n*****s, Jay howls in pain before Miya gets up and sprints away from us, Jay goes to follow but I hold him back.
"Stay and fight again or you lose your gelato," I say, holding back a laugh.
"Fine," He says before we shift and start another match, which was followed by many until three hours pass and we are both breathless and sweaty.
Shifting back to my human form I grab the shirt that Sara, my head warrior, hands me, I thank her before putting it on and walking back to the pack mansion where I shower, get dressed and lay in bed.
I lay in bed for hours, my mind swimming with thoughts, but I'm pulled out of them when I hear a soft knock on my door. "Come in," I say just louder than my normal voice.
"Aunty I can't reach," I hear Zilphia's voice say through the door making a small smile grace my lips.
"Coming darling," I respond as I move to my door and open it for the five year old who belongs to Jay and Miya. "Hey baby."
"Hi aunty," she says, clasping her hands in front of her and swaying side to side. "Can you read to me? Papa has to do watch and mama is already sleeping."
"Of course, Zilphie," I whisper before guiding her to my bed and grabbing a picture book from my night stand.
"Can you do the funny voices?" She asks excitedly as she bounces on my mattress.
"Yes, my girl," I coo in a high pitched voice, she giggles in response before crawling into my lap once I got comfortable with the book The Very Brave Bear resting on my knees. "Comfy?"
"Yep, now let's read!" She says excitedly before leaning her back against my front and opening the book for me to read.
"I'm the jingle jangle jungleon the edge of Slimy Bog, Bear was picking berries from a very wobbly log," I start before Zilphia turns the page. "Ahoy!" I yell in a deep yet chirpy voice making Zilphie giggle. "Said Boris Buffalo, from underneath the mud, and Bear fell off his wobbly log and landed with a... THUD." I smack my hands against my sheets when I said this, leading to Zilphia laughing with glee. "I didn't mean to scare you," I said in the same deep chirpy voice before switching back to my normal voice. "Said Boris with a grin, 'I only came to ask you if you wanted to come in'."
"Hehe," Zilphia laughs as she points to the grass all over Boris Buffalo.
"I wasn't even scared," I continue in a deep gruffly voice, imitating Bear. "Said Bear, 'I'm just as brave as you. The Bravest thing that you can do, I can do it too'." I continue, watching as Zilphia's eyes start to droop. "So he balanced like a butterfly upon the wobbly log. He did a double somersault... and splashed in slimy bog." The little girl giggles tiredly as she rubs at her eyes. "If you're so brave," I continued in Bears voice. "Said Bear, 'then come and follow me. We'll see how brave a buffalo is when climbing up a tree'."
"Froggie," Zilphie giggles while pointing at the yellow frog on the page.
"So bear climbed up a mighty tree, the tallest he could find, and there was Boris Buffalo, climbing right behind," I continue in a softer voice as the five year old sags against my much larger form tiredly. "That was easy,' Boris said. 'And what a pleasant view. But I can think of something else that you'd be scared to do'." I turn the page softly while Zilphia yawns. "Boris wandered up a hill, the steepest he could find, then tumbled down the other side... and Bear was right behind." I brush away some hair from Zilphia's face as she snuggles between my breasts. "That was easy,' blasted Bear. 'I'm just as brave as you. But I can think of something else that you can't do'."
Zilphia let out a soft snore as I finished the page before closing the picture book, I gently place her favourite book on my night stand before moving Zilphia so she was laying with her head on my pillow before laying next to her. "Good night, my little angel." I whisper as she moves to curl up by my side, I kiss her head softly before closing my eyes and falling into slumber.
