CARLO ?
“Let’s go.” I said to Lucio, watching him leave the woman he had been talking to since. I wasn’t sure if it was Susan or Sunny but Elena seemed to like her when we talked.
“Where’s Elena?” He asked as soon as we were out of the house.
“She slept off, carried her upstairs.” “I’ll drive.” I told him as soon as he unlocked the car.
I had so many thoughts running through my mind and I hoped that driving would help me sort out some of them.
Instead of sitting at the back like I always did, Lucio sat shot gun.
“I would say Elena has a good eye for people considering her cook and Kyle, but, considering that she fell for a jerk like you, I’ll say she’s on the average”, Lucio said with a nasty smirk on his face as soon as I started the car.
Although he wasn’t as grumpy as I was on most days, seeing him this happy was also weird and I looked at him intently for a while before driving out.
“When will she be moving back?” Lucio asked again, making me park the car abruptly.
“Did you get laid? You seem to chirpy to me.” I said with a scowl, doing my best to not go bonkers on him.
I was trying to wrap my mind around being a father. A father to a child I had no plan to have.
If it had been any woman, I would have gotten her to flush that child out of her. Yet, I knew Elena and knew her buttons. Earlier today, she had really meant getting a divorce and even if I wasn’t scared of Daniel, I was certain that us having a head on clash this early was definitely not going to be beneficial to my plans.
If I wanted to keep her as a viable card, I had to be ready to have her and the baby.
Win some and lose some. I understood how it worked exactly.
Instead of going home directly, I drove to a bar.
I was sure Mateo would be there. Hell! He was there all the time and I wondered how his wife coped with his heavily polyamorous ways.
“Carlo, what’s the matter? What are we doing here?” Lucio asked with no pause, reminding me that he was in the car again.
“I don’t know, I need an outlet. An outlet that doesn’t involve planning and plotting the one thing I have been doing all my life.” I said, parking the car with a loud screech that made some of the people on the pedestrian lane eye me with a glare.
From their vintage point, they couldn’t know who was there. Otherwise, I was certain they would think twice about shooting me with that glare.
“It’s not worth doing this, Carl. Let’s go home.” Lucio’s weak attempt at getting me to not unwind was fruitless as I stepped out of the car without a glance at him.
The unwinding I needed was far more than what alcohol promised, but add a w***e that just needed some money for her boobs job? Then that was enough to get me by tonight.
I went straight to the vIP room. I knew Mateo would be there and he certainly didn’t disappoint me, since I heard his booming voice the moment I was near the door alone.
“Carlo! What brings you here man?” His eyes were hazy and excited. Obviously, he had gone beyond alcohol this time around.
“Needed a night off and a different meal.” Spending years with him had certainly given me adequate knowledge of equipment.
“Ahh! I understand, I always told you no matter how good it is, one would always need a break.” He declared happily, as though excited that I had finally seen things his way.
That was a lie.
I could never get tired of Elena or what her body and touch did to me. Perhaps I could never feel it with anyone. Which was why I was here to settle for less.
Settle for less since the real deal came with so much baggage than I could deal with. The number of times I had jerked off with just my hands these past months was alarming.
“Lucio.” Mateo called out flatly as his gaze shifted behind me. The two had never seen eye to eye and Mateo would often times go extreme with his words to Lucio, especially in settings like this, and recently, I could understand why.
Lucio seemed to have his s**t together. Unlike me, he wasn’t just acting like he didn’t care about anything. He really didn’t care.
Nothing moved him and nothing made him lose control.
On days when your whole life was falling apart, someone like him made you feel inadequate. Especially when he was rubbing it in by telling you what to do.
“I didn’t think this was your kind of scene.”
“Of course it’s not. Letting lose with mere substances and alcohol should be for scum and I’m just here to manage the level of scum Carlo would be going down on tonight.” Lucio had definitely not held back and his words had Mateo charging towards him angrily.
“Hold your fire” I growled as I held him back in the chest.
“He’s high on life already. I really don’t know why you would decide to come here after all that has happened recently”, Lucio grumbled and then, without waiting for us, entered into the VIP room to pick a spot.
I was sure part of picking a spot included him staying somewhere that would allow him to see the whole room in case anyone was going to try nonsense and also seeing the outside.
“His girlfriend just dumped him so he’s grumpy. Don’t pay him any mind.” I lied with my A game straight face.
Mateo burst into a wild cackle the moment he heard that Lucio had been dumped by his girlfriend.
“Ah! Who would have thought that Mr perfect could have been ditched?” He joked and I forced myself to laugh about the non-existent joke as we went inside.
