CARLO ☀️
I counted the seconds as I waited for Elena at home, the moment we had victory in our grasp, I had taken off with Lucio on the first flight back here.
“You already knew she wasn’t home. Just calm down.” Lucio advised with his warm smile. Since we had taken down more than 90% of the men from the Bratva, he had this smile plastered on his face.
Perhaps I was so used to winning that there was no sort of feeling it gave me anymore.
I watched from my study as Elena’s car pulled into the driveway. She got down and looked around carefully like she was scared.
She patted the area between her chest and her stomach gently and then started walking towards the house.
Every time I saw her, she always managed to look better. Today, even though I couldn’t see her face clearly, I could see how the red dress hugged every curve of her body while making her look like some red snack that needed to be eaten up immediately.
“You don’t intend to eat her through the window, right? Because with how you are staring at her, I wouldn’t be surprised if you locked her up and made up with some steamy night wrapped between her legs.” Lucio joked, and then stood up.
“I’ll go through the back so you guys can talk.” He said, striding off without waiting for my reply.
I walked out of the study too, which gave me just enough time to see Elena as she entered the house.
She stopped as she took in my appearance. “Carlo.” She called out, her voice soft and ticklish and it took everything in me to not push her against a wall and take her like my life depended on it.
She used to love calling me Carl, insisting that it was shorter and special, but now, she had probably not called me that since our wedding night.
“Where have you been?” I asked, trying my best to keep my voice level headed.
She squinted and then walked forward, reducing the gap between us.
“Why are you so hell bent on where I have been? Last I checked, you have barely slept more than a week in this house in the past eight months of our marriage.”
“Have you gone senile?” She added immediately. Her words were cold and resentful and I wondered if I had pushed her to the wall.
“I tell you clearly every time I’m leaving for Italy. Why has there been no call from you telling me you had a reason to leave home?”
“You didn’t call me here for that, right? Because you must know that I have a sister here, a mother here and my office en-suite here, also that I can use when I’m working late.” She crossed her arms around her waist, raising her already perky breasts even more.
I couldn’t help but remember how they used to feel in my arms, how they would sway recklessly while I rammed into her back when I could let myself go.
“I should be the one asking you this, Carlo, why are you doing this?” Elena’s voice was calm, to be honest, it was a bit too calm and apathetic for me to take it. She was never like that.
“Doing what? Working so hard so my little wife would not have to bother so much about money to fall sick or sleep over at the company?” I asked just as she pulled her phone out of her bag.
“That’s bullshit! We both have enough money to last us our entire lifetime if we didn’t even work again. I only work because I’ll probably die of boredom if I stay in this estate, all alone everyday, while leading the world to think I was some happy girl.”
She was right. We had more than enough money. I don’t have enough blood yet.
I hadn’t taken all the guilty bastards that did this to me. That made me this way.
“If you must know, I’ll say it only one more time, I have been in a vacation rental that I just got since I was discharged from the hospital. Is that enough for you?” The sarcasm in her words didn’t pass by me but I decided to let it slide.
“Fair enough, I thought some co-designer had taken my wife from me and given you all those pleasures you have been starved of all this while.” I scorned and then closed the gap between us.
More than anything, I loved how her body always reacted to mine, how she reacted to my every touch was one of my favorite things.
“I’m not going to let you do this to me. I want a divorce!” She yelled as he moved away from where I had her almost trapped.
Her reaction had caught me by surprise and I turned to her, jaw clenched at her defiling me. I didn’t know how exactly I managed to love and hate her at the same time.
How I always had this deep desire to cause her pain, to see her vulnerable for me.
Divorce? Lucio’s words flashed through my mind at the same time and I was glad he had decided to leave.
“Like I told you, I’m not letting you go. Not in this life!” I growled and pulled her into my arms.
“Then I’ll tell the whole world what you are. A monster with no feelings in any way.” Her eyes were spitting fire and I could see the determination in them.
She was serious this time. She was ready to leave me.
A kind of panic that I had never felt before enveloped my heart, making me feel a type of loss I hadn’t felt in a while.
“I don’t care what you do. I’m not letting you go.” I declared, tightening my hands around her.
“I can’t breathe Carlo, let me go.” Her voice was faint and tired but I couldn’t bare to.
It felt like she was leaving me at this very moment.
Where was the woman that used to love me with her whole heart?
“Carlo….” Her voice was fainter and my heart lurched in panic as her body became limp in my hands, making me come back to normal.
She had lost every form of consciousness and laid weakly in my arms.
Without even thinking, I rushed out of the house like a maniac with her pressed tightly to my chest.
Was she sick and dying? What have I done?
