Empire of The Sun- We Are The People (FlicFlac Remix)
The walk from the parking lot to the counseling office is a success. The glares and the growls came as easily as I brushed past them. There are a lot of members of my pack. Many familiar faces and a lot of enemy colors walking by. This place is something else.
The woman at the front desk gave me my schedule for this semester and a stack of textbooks that go along with them. I picked them up and walked out of the office. Looking for my locker is my number one priority right now. I need to put these things down. If anyone attacks I'm going to lose them and that's not okay with me. I finally found it on the third floor. I placed them all inside when I got it open.
Lunar Academy isn't what I expected it to be. The building is fairly new. Very modern and open. I was surprised to know that the school didn't enforce a uniform. The school rules are the same as the pack laws. It smells like wolves in here. A few other predicted scents but it's obvious this is a school run by my kind.
"You're Arcadia Reign." I looked over my shoulder to see a girl standing behind me. She's a tiny little thing. Maybe to me at least. Being five-eleven isn't considered normal in a lot of places and I'm not done growing yet. I'll probably grow another six inches after my wolf and I ascend.
"That's right. You're Taylor Brandon?" I asked. She smiled please with the fact that I know her name. I'll never forget the names of any of his victims.
"I just wanted to thank you," she said holding out a Ziploc bag with cookies in it.
I looked around to see others watching me. They're waiting for my response. Checking to see if I'm the b***h I'm made out to be. The reputation I hold next to my father's. I don't have to do that here. He can't dictate my entire existence.
"You're welcome," I bowed respectfully, reaching for the cookies. Her eyes sparkled with joy.
"They're sugar cookies. I made them myself," she rushed out nervously. I smiled at her.
"You made these for me?" I asked impressed. She nodded vigorously. "That's really cool,"
"Thanks," she shied away, rocking back and forth where she stood. I took one out and took a bite.
"They're good. You used vanilla bean instead of extract,"
"That's right," she beamed.
"I'm going to try that from now on," I smiled, finishing it.
"Have you gotten a tour of the school yet? I can show you around during break," I love the enthusiasm.
"No, not yet. That would be great," I gave her a single nod. "You know you're way around here?"
"Yes," she answered quickly. I shut my locker behind me.
"Mind helping the new girl with her first class," she let out a little nervous laugh when I extended my schedule to her. She took it looking it over.
"Your first class is really hard," she whispered to herself. "It's down these stairs. Second door to your left. Good luck,"
"Thanks," I grinned taking my paper-back.
"Oh my, moon. You have a gorgeous smile," she complimented. She didn't meet my gaze.
"Thank you. You've made my morning a little more bearable." she let out a little laugh like she was relieved to hear that. "I'll see you at break,"
"Your second class is this one," she called out. I looked back at her to see her pointing at the door across from where my locker is.
"I'll see you there when it ends," I bowed playfully. She nodded before tucking her head and walking away.
She's dressed in baggy clothes. Loose dark green slacks, big gray t-shirt, and despite the obvious heat, a baggy zip-up hoodie. Her long straight dark brown hair is split down the middle styled to fall over her face so when she wants to hide in it from the world.
That son of a b***h had done a number on her. I can imagine her fragile eyes crying all night. Her small frame shaking with the heart-wrenching memories of how he had defiled her body. For the first time in a year, I regret not killing him then and there. I regret not painting the walls of that classroom with his blood.
"Alpha?" I jumped at the sound of my beta's voice.
"Jonathan," I said turning to face him. Jonathan is a year younger than me. He just turned seventeen. We're both seniors. Because of the trials, I wasn't able to start my senior year with my class so I have to finish it now.
"Your wolf is showing. You okay?"
"I'm fine. It's nothing,"
"What class do you have first?" I handed him the paper. "Me too. Want to get going. The bell first bell will ring..."
The bell rang making us both laugh. We walked together and he sat next to me. I took a seat in the middle of the class. Other members of our pack were quick to surround us. The others didn't like that I had exerted my dominance but no one said a word.
My first class is a university-level one. Optical sciences. It makes me proud that so many of my pack members are in this class. The teacher walked in. An older woman, beautiful graying hair pulled up in a messy bun, casual business attire, and a pair of spectacles chained around her neck. Former Luna Rodgriguez from Luna Del Amanecer. She's as beautiful as always.
"Good morning," she called out and we all responded with respect. Her eyes scanned the classroom until they met my own. She acknowledged me with a single nod and I did the same. "Why don't we begin with the syllabus? Alpha Reign, will you pass these out for me?"
"Yes," I said standing up without hesitation.
"Thank you. I am looking forward to your presentation this evening. I hope you have something good for us,"
"Good belittles the surprise," I winked at her. She smiled brightly at me before going over to her desk to sit down.
She didn't ask me to pass these out to be mean or to put me on the spot. We both know I'm used to the limelight. She's making me pass these out because she wants them all to know I'm here. Luna Rodgriguez was my mother's guardian when she and my father were part of L.D.A. Before my mother knew she was mated to my dad.
Everything my mother is, she learned from this woman. The good, the bad, and the love. I have so much respect for her. In her day, there wasn't a force that would be able to stop her. When L.D.A. found out who my father was and that my mother was mated to him, hell broke loose. That pack survived because of this beauty of a woman here. She didn't stop my father from killing her mate for what he had done to him and to this day, she holds no ill will towards my parents.
"Alright, let's start from the top," she said when I was finished passing out the packets. "You can take your seat,"
I set the spare printouts on her desk and took my seat. I'm glad I don't have to start my day with the eyes of a man scanning me over. I know my kind isn't like that. A least, not the juveniles but the thought still lingers in my head. I haven't been able to shake it. I know I can take care of myself and I had, but this is something that's done something to me. I want to hold my head high but there's new darkness that just wants me to hideaway.
