Chapter 10

Kate stopped just outside the door and simply stared. Her jaw had dropped open while she stared at my car. I reached around her and closed her mouth and that seemed to snap her out of her trance and she said, “I love your car.” I could understand that, it was emerald green with green metal flakes but it also had a lion’s head decal on the hood and ‘The Leo’ in script on the back window. It was a piece of art in and of itself. 

She looked thoughtful for a few minutes then she said, “I think we should take two cars. If you’re anything like me you don’t like to be without your car. Me and Heather can take the Beast, and you can ride in Leo. How’s that sound?” The Beast, what is that? She is right; I don’t like to be without my car. But then again I was planning on having Kris meet us there so we can get our costumes as well. I haven’t told him that but I’ll call him from the car. I looked at Kate and said, “You are right, I don’t like to be without my car but I was going to have my cousin meet us there so we can get our costumes as well, so I can always just ride with him afterwards. Heather invited both of us I hope that’s ok.” She smiled and said, “Yea that’s fine with me. It’s pretty much just going to be whoever shows up parties with us. A few people are getting a personal invite. So yea I don’t care.” Heather looked at her and said, “You want to have Lin meet us there? It seemed like it had been a while since you had talked with him.” 

Kate looked down and said, “It has been awhile, I haven’t really talked to many people from my time overseas because of how Ian would react to it. He did meet a couple of people and they scared the living hell out of him. I’ll call him from the car. Alex you can call Kris from the car as well.” With it decided we all moved towards the garage and moved the cars around. Kate pulled into the street and me and Heather pulled our cars into the two car garage and got into Kate’s Expedition. As we headed to the Amati, Kate called Lin and I called Kris. They both said they would meet us there. While Kate was on the phone Lin began speaking Japanese to her. I didn’t understand what they were saying but Kate explained once they got off the phone. She said, “Lin asked me if I was ok, and I told him I was. Then I asked him to bring me a few things for my costume. He has all my weapons and accessories that I had bought while I was overseas. He said that he would bring them to me and meet us there.”

Both Heather and I gave her a funny look and Heather said, “What kind of stuff is he bringing you?” She glanced at Heather but kept her eyes on the road as she said, “Just some of my ceremonial weapons, as well as my guns that I usually carry on a daily basis. He is also bringing me all my hairpins and jewelry, the stuff you will need for your costume.” That was different; I didn’t know she owned guns or any other weapons. I asked, “What type of guns do you own? And do you have a permit for them?” 

She shot me a sly look and said, “They are custom made 40 caliber desert eagles, similar to my brother’s but different. They have Celtic scrollwork down the barrel and on the grips. And yes I have a permit for them. I even have custom holsters for them, one for the small of my back and one for my leg. I even have a special compartment in here for them.” She hit a button on the console and it slide open to reveal a hidden compartment that had a place for three guns altogether. We thought she was done explaining but then she said, “They even have names, Zeus and Apollo. I also have two compound bows named Artemis and Sagittarius. Lin can bring me those at a later time though. We are almost there, are we ready to get our costumes.” Me and Heather both nodded our heads and she parked the vehicle.
