Todd twisted on the bench and slung one arm over its back. “We’ll be less conspicuous if we go back on foot,” he said. “I take it you two have been inside that church?” Heidi asked. “We have. That’s where we…ah…found the sacrosanct oil,” Todd said. He jumped down from the carriage, turned, and offered Heidi a hand. “I was only on the main floor. Nick got to the lower level, though.” Heidi’s only response to that was to raise one eyebrow and murmur, “Hmm.” Nick still sat in the carriage, but he’d turned to face them, his legs dangling out of the side. Reaching into one of the leather bags they’d brought, Nick pulled out a pad of paper and a pencil.
