“This isn’t over, Darius,” Derick growls, pointing a finger at Rowan. “Watch me. You’ll regret this, I can assure you.” My stomach flips. I can feel the tension in the room spike again. Darius doesn’t flinch. He moves toward Derick, closing the space between them, and leans in. whispering something in his ear. I can’t hear what he says, but I watch Derick’s body go rigid. His eyes widen, his face goes pale, his fists clench, his knees almost give way, and terror spreads across his face. Darius straightens slowly, a wicked grin curling on his lips. He stretches his hands, adjusts Derick’s tie, and pats him gently on the chest. Then he tucks his hands into his neatly tailored trousers and turns to me, smiling.
