The Impossible Proposal

Luna Aria stared at the man sitting across from her. Adrian Xue. The name alone was enough to make people nervous. But sitting in front of him, Luna realized something. The rumors were not exaggerated. The man was truly cold. The private room of the luxury restaurant was silent. Outside the glass window, the city lights shone beautifully, but the atmosphere inside was tense. Adrian placed a document on the table. “The contract.” Luna looked at it but did not touch it. “You prepared this already?” “Yes.” She raised an eyebrow. “You were certain I would agree?” “No.” His answer surprised her. “Then why prepare it?” “Because whether you agree or not, I prefer being prepared.” Luna almost smiled. Of course. A man like Adrian Xue probably planned everything before taking action. She opened the contract and began reading. The conditions were simple. One year of marriage. They would appear as a loving couple in public. They would not interfere with each other's private lives. After one year, they would divorce peacefully. No emotional attachment. No questions about the past. No unnecessary relationship beyond the agreement. Luna slowly closed the document. “This is a marriage contract, not a business deal.” Adrian looked at her calmly. “For me, they are the same.” Those words irritated her. “Do you always talk about marriage like it means nothing?” For the first time, Adrian’s expression changed slightly. Only for a second. But Luna noticed. There was something hidden behind his cold eyes. Pain. However, it disappeared quickly. “My situation is complicated.” “So complicated that you need a stranger to become your wife?” “Yes.” His honesty left her speechless. Most people would have tried to pretend. But Adrian Xue did not. He simply stated the truth. Luna looked down at the contract again. “What happens if I refuse?” “Your scandal will continue.” Her fingers tightened. She hated that he was right. The entertainment industry was cruel. A rumor could destroy years of hard work. “But why me?” she asked again. Adrian looked directly into her eyes. “Because you are suitable.” “Suitable?” “You are intelligent. You know how to control the media. You are not easily influenced by others.” Luna laughed softly. “So you researched me.” “Yes.” The answer was too straightforward. “You are frightening, Mr. Xue.” “I have heard that before.” For some reason, Luna almost laughed. Almost. But then she remembered something. She was not just protecting her career. She was protecting her dream. Acting was the one thing she had fought for her entire life. After a long silence, she picked up the pen. “I have conditions too.” Adrian looked at her. “Speak.” “First, you cannot control my career.” “Agreed.” “Second, you cannot interfere with my friendships.” “Agreed.” “Third…” She paused. “I want respect.” For a moment, Adrian looked at her differently. Most people approached him because of his money and power. But this woman was asking for respect. Not luxury. Not fame. Not benefits. Just respect. “Agreed.” Luna signed the contract. The moment the ink touched the paper, her life changed. She did not know if she had made the right decision. She only knew one thing. From this day forward… She was going to become Mrs. Xue. --- Meanwhile, in the Xue family mansion, an old man sat in silence. Grandfather Xue looked at the document in front of him. “So he finally agreed?” “Yes, Master,” his assistant replied. The old man smiled. “Adrian has always believed he could control everything.” He looked at Luna’s picture. “But this girl…” His eyes became serious. “She may be the only person who can change him.” --- The next morning, the entire country was shocked. A piece of news appeared online. “Xue Corporation CEO Adrian Xue and famous actress Luna Aria spotted together.” The internet exploded. Nobody knew that behind the cameras and rumors… A contract had already been signed. And two completely different worlds were about to collide.
