“But there’s no need for you to worry about a thing. Nobody’ll have the power to attack you or harm you. But, a word of warning: if you feel hungry don’t eat anywhere near us once we’ve changed into animals. Stick to eating where you have every day ’til now. We’ll stay looking like animals until Monday. As soon as the Pope’s finished saying Monday’s mass, we’ll return to normal. It’s what happens every weekend!”
Guerrino was amazed by what the man had told him and enquired, “Would you become so hideously transformed if that mass weren’t celebrated?”
He replied that they would: divine providence had limited the period of transformation to the time when the Holy Father was not saying mass at the weekend. Sometimes, however, the mass began slightly late, at other times a little bit early.
