Seeing my hesitation, Malcolm let his aura wrap around me gently, as if trying to soothe my intense anxiety. "Go on back for now. I'll ask around and figure this out for you. If it wasn't Lucian, I'll do my best to track down Elise's whereabouts. If it was him, I'll find a way to make him let her go." I looked at Malcolm, a little hesitant. "Alpha Malcolm, thank you so much. I honestly don't even know what to say. But... why are you helping me?" Malcolm's eyes flickered uncomfortably, and he looked away. "Lucian and I grew up together. To be honest, I just don't want to see things between you two stay this tense. Plus..." He suddenly lowered his voice.
