One last goodbye

I don’t know how to react to other people’s tears. Words can’t fix a broken heart nor can they bring the dead back. I hate funerals and the feeling of having to say goodbye without hearing their goodbyes in return. Their laughter is silenced and becomes forgotten over time. Slowly you forget what they looked like and how easily they smiled. I kept an arm rested on Sasha’s shoulder as we watched her mother’s casket being lowered into the ground. I felt her shoulders quiver underneath my arm as she was fighting her tears before she finally let them out when it became clear that her mother won’t come back. Corbin and I were planning on going back home since my classes are starting in a week when we received the call that her mother passed away. Sasha was the last one to be with her
