Chapter 3—Outburst

1003 Words
Sam's POV I had come back from the states after half a decade abroad. I couldn't attend my own father's funeral and it hunted me. I was expected to come back and take over his business empire. A business empire I knew almost nothing about, but if I didn't do it, who would? On my return, I met a sight I didn't expect to see, Daisy. Daisy had gotten far prettier than I remembered, more feminine. I wanted her, I knew from the moment I saw her again that I wanted to feel her. I had a way of getting any girl I wanted. she wasn't going to be any different. However, something in me felt like I wanted more from her. I couldn't tell what the feeling was but I've always felt tension whenever I was around her. I prepared for my first day of work, there was a meeting with the stakeholders of the company regarding the new CEO which was me. I had no idea what to do. My father never prepared me for this moment. As I knotted my tie, I heard a soft knock on my door. "Come in" I responded, not turning to face the door. "Morning young master, the lady of the house sent me up to assist with whatever you might need in preparation for work today. I could also take care of any other— needs you might have" the soft toned girl spoke. I saw her through her reflection in the mirror. She flashed a seductive smile and bit her lower lip. "What are you called?" I questioned in a calm, collected manner. "Sarah, master" she said, maintaining the same mischief in her tone as before. "Sarah, pack your things and leave the mansion immediately. You're fired. You can thank my mother on the way out for costing you your job" I said. Normally I'd be angry but I had lots of other things to worry about that morning so it wasn't the time to entertain foolish antics by my mother. Sarah opened the door and made an exit without saying a word and shut the door behind her. Shortly after, there was another annoying knock on my door. "Dear lord, mother why—" when I pulled the door open. It was Daisy. She was dressed in a suit with pants. She had her hair tied into a ponytail. I was so absorbed in my thoughts that I had forgotten that I had to go to work. "Master Sam, good morning. did you need anything? I brought you a cup of coffee" She said in the softest tone possible. she wasn't smiling, there was something else in her eyes that I couldn't make out. "What took you so long?" I regained my composure, grabbing the mug from the tray she held. She flinched when my fingers grazed hers. "Why are you so on edge? I don't bite" I said, trying to give a reassuring smile but she must have interpreted it differently because she looked uncomfortable now. All preparations had been made and I was on my way to work. I walked past my mother with a look that told her I had a lot to discuss with her about her earlier behavior. In the car, Daisy sat in the backseat, beside me as the driver rode away. She clenched my briefcase tightly like it was something as valuable as her life. In her eyes, I found a look I couldn't read. I hated that I couldn't read her. I arrived at the conference room ten minutes late. The stakeholders had all gathered in waiting to be addressed by their new CEO. "Good morning, everybody" I said, presenting a confident front even though I was very nervous. "Good morning Mr. Morrison. we have been eager to meet you" a man who sat to my far right on the road table said. I knew him, I had met him once before when I came with my father to the office. Not wanting to let Daisy out of my sight for a second, I turned around and there she was, standing behind my chair like a guardian angel watching over me. The meeting went rather smoothly, afterwards it was a chore going around to introduce myself to the staff individually and present handshakes. I needed to make a good first impression. That didn't mean that I couldn't fire anyone I wanted to. I had let Daisy out of my sight again and this time, I didn't find her beside me. Where has she gone now? I'm guessing she knows a lot of people here. I thought. "Is this how you serve coffee? you've always been quite the stupid girl" I heard from the far end of the room. Coming into my sight was Daisy being baptized from her head down with a cup of latte. "Worthless girl. Tom used to look over all your mistakes but I'm sure the new CEO will do away with you" the man said. It was Mr. Ethan, a member of the stakeholders that never liked my father. He must have really hated Mary too. Without even thinking about it, I ran over to the scene, holding Ethan by the tie and punching him twice. I punched him so hard that I injured my knuckle, and his mouth as well. He bled slightly. I've gone and done it now. I've really made a scene on my first day as CEO but I don't care. How can he treat her like that?? I alone get to treat her however I want! My thoughts ran amok. A scene was created just as I feared. "Security! Take this man out of the premises. we'll talk about his misconduct later" I said. I grabbed Daisy who stood motionless at the corner and made my way out of the building. I no longer felt like being in that environment, I had lost my composure in front of everyone for reasons I didn't well understand.
