Melissa froze in place, her mind reeling.
“Y-you? W-what are you doing here?” she stammered.
Damian’s smile softened. “Love,” his voice barely above a whisper. “Will you let me explain now?”
Melissa's heart was racing with anger and panic. “You didn’t answer my question!” she snapped. “I said, what are you doing here?!”
Damian exhaled. “This… this is my company.”
Melissa's jaw dropped, and she was left speechless for a moment before she finally spoke up. “I’m calling security.”
But Damian only smiled faintly. “There’s no need for that. I’ve already told them not to come, no matter what they hear. The door is bolted from the outside and can only be unlocked on my orders.” His tone softened, almost pleading. “You can’t run, Melissa. Please, take that out of your mind.”
