Cain sat in silence, brooding from the story he had just recounted. Dorian and Xia glanced toward each other, both moved by his tragic tale.
“I blamed myself for my weakness…for their deaths. Then one day I realized that I had no control. It was you. It was your fault,” Cain accused.
“C…Cain I’m sorry, but I had no idea,” Dorian replied.
“Gains told me that you and your friends would stop them. He told me you would defend the city.”
“We tried, Cain. They were powerful. We tried,” Dorian replied.
“You tried? Trying is not good enough! It’s all about what you CAN do! Did you save my wife and daughter from that beast? Did you save Mar from becoming a monument? Did you save all the people that were burned in the streets like insects? What did you do?”
