There was silence except for the sounds in the forest; the chirps of birds, the low hoots from Owls on trees, and the sounds of trampled grass as she walked deeper into the dark forest. “I want mahogany woods that can only be seen deep in the forest.” Serene’s voice kept ringing in her head, reminding her of the trouble that could befall her if she didn’t do what she was instructed to. “I’ve been here for two hours,” Reina looked at her wristwatch to confirm her words. “…yet I don’t see any Mahogany woods.” She said and heaved out a long sigh of distress, praying that she found the woods before anything terrible happened. “How am I supposed to find woods by this time? It is dark and I can barely find my way with this torchlight” Reina ranted, feeling frustrated as the time went by. Worried that she may be losing time and might get lost, she frantically searched for the mahogany woods, walking into the forest, alert. “Please, if there are forces around like they say, I'll need some help. Help me locate the woods, I’ll appreciate that.” Reina prayed silently, desperate for assistance. She wasn’t overly religious; all she knew was the church her parents took her to as a child up until their death. Her torchlight lit a pile of wood, they looked like someone had placed them there for her. They were tied neatly and pretty fresh. “Mahogany woods!” She jumped happily, throwing her hand to her mouth so she wouldn’t let out a loud sound. “It looks like someone kept them here for later, but I need this.” She said, a bit sad that the owner might be upset if she took them.” “But if I don’t take them, Mother will have my head. What do I do?” She stood close to the pile of wood, contemplating her next line of action when suddenly, she heard a ruffle in the bushes behind her. She turned around in one swift move, scanned the spot she had heard the sound from, and poked her head forward to see if she was alone or not. Reina wiped the sweat on her forehead and chuckled. “it must have been a squirrel.” She whispered and laughed at the way she had panicked seconds ago. She quickly grabbed the wood and lifted it to her head with the support of her knee. She squats a little to take the chainsaw from the ground when she comes face to face with a pair of glowing eyes. Her body went cold with fear and she could feel the saliva in her mouth dry, making her swallow repeatedly. Her body froze on the spot, she had seen them before; golden eyes that glittered so brightly you could find your way with them. Reina thought she was dreaming, one of those incessant nightmares she had every night for months before they moved to Crystal Mount. If this beast was anything like the ones in her dream, then she had to leave, but how? The wolf came forward, revealing large paws and a large body mass that was three times her size. Reina was small compared to the beast that stood before her, teeth in sight and ready to attack. “Please.” She whispered as she fell to the ground almost breaking her neck with the wood on her head as they fell, lying scattered across the soil. The wolf trailed her, walking in circles as it stared at her, keeping her within its reach and mercy. It growled and dug its claws into the soil scratching deeply with a superhuman speed. Reina’s eyes twitched as particles of and got into them as the beast continued digging. Instinct kicked in, and Reina crawled backward and the wolf followed, almost mocking her frail attempt to escape. The wolf raises one large paw and slashes her hand with its claws. Reina saw red. Her body shuddered as the pain gripped her very core. She turned around and bolted, hearing the wolf chase after her. The wolf was near and Reina could feel its breath on her like a scornful announcement that she was wasting her time running. Can a bargain do? A plea perhaps. If it feels anger, it should also have the ability to feel pity. There was something about this wolf that made her want to communicate with it. Aside from hearing her speak, she was convinced it would comprehend her words. She felt a sharp pain as its claws dug deep into her back. She let out a cry as she fell to her knees, hands grabbing the wet soil to hold something solid. She could smell the lovely fragrance from the Jasmine flowers. A sweet and intoxicating aura with immense richness emitted from the flower. She almost turned to search for them with her eyes, but she knew how precarious it would be if she took her eyes off the wolf. Suddenly, without any prior warning and as if it was oblivious to her pleas, the wolf slashed her hand again with so much force she had no time to register what happened. Thick warm blood gushed out from the deep wound on her. She was losing blood from all the injuries inflicted on her by the wolf. Her vision blurred with each second that passed, leaving her weaker as her heart rate decreased. “Am I going to die? Is this my end? I’ve never had peace, at least I deserve a peaceful death for every pain I’ve felt.” She thought, with tears in her eyes. “This should make her happy, I couldn’t please her alive, maybe I can finally give her the satisfaction she needs when I die.” She thought about Serene and Valerie, and she smiled weakly as memories of Valerie flashed through her mind. Reina opened her eyes with the last bit of strength she had and looked at the wolf. It gathered momentum and lunged at her. Reina lay there, accepting her fate, but at that moment, something tackled the wolf to the ground, pinning it firmly. It was similar to the first wolf but bigger and magnificent; it left the other wolf and stood up to its full height. Reina wasn’t sure of what she was seeing, but her eyes widened as the new wolf growled and shifted into a human. “Reina?” He said as she rushed to her side, holding her in his arms. He turned to the other wolf, who had its head down in a semi-bow. “What have you done?" He screamed, causing thunderbolts in the sky. Reina’s eyes closed slowly, and her head fell backward, leaving her in a space of darkness.
