Julien refused to let himself become excited, either by the rumors, or by learning, once again, that Leander might not be ignoring his letters. “Perhaps he traveled to his other estate after all.”
“You need to discover if that is the case,” Cordelia said. “Lord Tracy had it from Mayfield himself that you and Dearborne quarreled the morning before he left.”
Hudson arriving with the coffee was a welcome reprieve and Julien unclenched his teeth in order to take a long sip of the strong brew.
“Julien, if you know where Dearborne is—”
“I do not.”
