Chapter 2: Let Me See

Thursday Narrator’s POV: In the Meadowlark Pack’s land there laid a house made of wood, stone and brick. Even though it was not a mansion by any means. It was called home by most of the pack. In there laid the pack’s alpha, Poe Claudius. At just 20 years old he had gained great respect from his pack members by being calm and protective. As one of the very few young alphas, he had a lot of work to do in order to gain respect from surrounding packs. After his parents death that resulted from a rogue attack 2 years ago, Poe had to claim his title as alpha and had to become a parent to his 16 year old sister at the time. Melanie Claudius, was a smart mouth as her father once told her. She spoke up to those who she felt had done her wrong, she stood up for the omegas, and had gained support from her pack as long as she could talk. Sometimes she still can sense her parents lingering scents around the pack house and it made her heart break. Her mother had been killed first and right after it, both her and Poe witnessed their father go head first into the enemy in order to kill the one who took away his love. With his final boost of strength he striked down the last rogue but by the time he was finished the sinking hole in his heart grew from the death of his mate. He didn’t last much longer and had died holding his dead mate’s hand. As the sun peaked out from over the trees, Melanie ran on all four legs inside the pack house, up the stairs, and into her room. She let out a wolfy smile passing by all the ambassadors the pack had who all either had a shocked expression or one of great disappointment. Shifting back into her human form from her white wolf form was never an experience anyone could get used to. While getting ready to shower her head had encountered a push as if someone was trying to knock down a door. Melanie had wished that was true when she figured out it was her brother trying to mind link her. *Would you like to explain to me why there are dirty paw prints coming from the foyer all the way to your door, Melanie?* Poe had said with a tone that showed he was being stern and fatherly to her but also had a hint of brotherly love for her outrageous acts. *I do not know what you mean brother, by the way you know it’s rude to stop a lady from getting her shower in order to go to school.* Melanie had replied while quickly closing the link to not hear another lecture. After her shower Melanie had thrown her almost silver like hair in a messy bun and put on some glittery silver eyeshadow to compliment her shining blue eyes. Looking in the mirror her confidence grew knowing she was quite pretty. Though all supernatural beings held an ungodly gift at being beautiful Melanie had always thought that her beauty mainly came from the inside. Hopping into her Toyota Tundra, Melanie was off to school in her classic outfit of a black snugged T-shirt with dark jeans and some Nike high tops. Right as she was about to pull in a few pack members hopped in with her. Those who jumped in were Ryder, Blake, and Savannah. The four of them have been friends ever since they were pups. After the laughs of them catching a free ride they were all off to high school. Melanie’s POV: “Why the hell can no one park at this school!” Blake was the first to notice the Camaro right beside us who was parked like absolute dog water. I do have to admit seeing him fighting the door to not smack the car while he tried escaping his seat was enjoyable to watch. Blake was not small by any means, standing around 6 '5 and full of muscle, it was a struggle for him to get out without leaving a dent in the car. Savannah, being lucky, hopped out on Ryder’s side to avoid dealing with squeezing through the door. Once we got out I looked at the Camaro seeing weird vials and what looked to be some needles in the backseat. What the hell was this person doing? For some reason I couldn’t even pick up a scent of it even with it looking like whatever it was, was leaking out. “Hey, what are you looking at Mel?” Savannah asked while standing beside me. “Oh, that doesn’t look like some f****d up s**t at all.”, as the boys came beside us wondering what had made Savannah swear their eyes bulged out. Everyone seemed to look at me, and at that moment I didn’t even know what to think. Walking away was the best we could do as there was no way to find out whose car it was and if the vials and needles meant anything bad. As long as they didn’t belong to our pack we were fine. Wait, if they didn’t belong to our pack would that mean danger to us? Maybe I should let Poe know about it just in case. *Hey Poe, there’s some odd vials and needles in someone’s car that we just parked next to.* *Does the car belong to a pack member?* *No, or at least I don’t think so. I’ve never seen it on pack lands.” *Okay well, keep me updated if anything seems off but right now I can’t do much. I’m not in charge of the school since it’s on neutral land.* Poe finished off before closing the link. As I was lost in my own head I bumped hard into a shorter girl, one with black hair and wearing what could be considered a private dancer outfit. Luckily being 5’ 8 had its perks because I would not enjoy having her tumble on top of me. “Are you kidding me, are you f*****g blind? How hard is it to look where you’re going!?” The little fireball of a girl screamed while I just stared wondering how someone could look so old but yet have the squeakiest voice ever. Luckily she quickly strutted her way leaving us, only to link up with a red head and leave around a corner. “That is the perfect example as to why I am so glad we cannot have humans as mates.” Ryder said under his breath making sure only us four could hear. We all gave a short nod wondering how someone could have no shame. As the two humans walked away past the corner an even shorter girl looked to be left by the red head. I couldn’t figure out who she was or why her face seemed to be one of disappointment before she walked into the classroom. The final bells started ringing and Blake and Savannah thought this moment would be perfect timing to see who could sprint the fastest in human speed to the class. Luckily before Blake crushed Savannah’s confidence Ryder easily caught up and bumped into Blake leaving him to be knocked against a wall. The scene of that had all of us laughing as we eventually made our way into class. For some reason, I stepped in the room being carried away by my laughter and thoughts but a certain pull at my heart had me stuttering to find my words again. I couldn’t quite place the feeling but as I turned around I caught the eye of the blondie that I watched walking in just a bit earlier. Her brown eyes seemed to be foggy as if deep in thought but when I looked for a second longer her eyes cleared up. With our eye contact now being fully formed I had realized who she was. Who this quite short girl who couldn’t be more than 5’ 3 was, with her blonde hair flowing down her back and with long eyelashes that made her eyes pop even more. It was her. Lillian Moore.
