Chapter Eighteen-2

1983 Words

Braxton set up a second Phoenix site for manufacturing several targeting systems the Oort had developed and passed to Braxton for adaptation to human use. One long-range system, designed to detect incoming spacecraft at the most distant possible range, was a quantum device based upon entanglement. The Oort had found a way to separate entangled particles physically, and to project one element of trillions of these pairs in an expanding sphere around Sol and the Oort Cloud. The particles were projected in waves that allowed each Oort Station to calculate the approximate vector, range, and velocity vector of anything moving within the sphere, an incoming spacecraft, a comet on its own path, or anything at all sufficiently large to trigger the system. The incoming data were presented in hologr
