Braxton set up a second Phoenix site for manufacturing several targeting systems the Oort had developed and passed to Braxton for adaptation to human use. One long-range system, designed to detect incoming spacecraft at the most distant possible range, was a quantum device based upon entanglement. The Oort had found a way to separate entangled particles physically, and to project one element of trillions of these pairs in an expanding sphere around Sol and the Oort Cloud.
