“Hey. Are you deaf, or are you just ignoring me?”
He didn’t blink. Eyes fixed forward, jaw set, like she wasn’t even there. The “peasant girl” didn’t deserve his attention.
Vickie crossed her arms, slow and deliberate. Her glare was locked on the side of his face. If he wouldn’t look at her, she’d make him feel it.
“My name isn’t ‘hey,’ okay?”
Kelvin's voice stayed flat, eyes still ahead like she was wasting his time.
“And respect the boundaries here. I’m Kelvin. So if you’d kindly keep moving, you’d be doing my job a favor. Understood?”
The tension shifted between them now. She stared at him, caught off guard. Awe flickered across her face before she could hide it.
She stepped forward, chin lifting, eyes daring him. “Mm… what exactly are you implying? That I’m a problem?”
He closed the distance, voice dropping low at her ear: “Is it wrong? Because you know I’m right.”
“You know what? I don’t mind girls who talk back.” He caressed her face gently, raising her jaw above, eyes locked on hers, voice dropping a degree.
“But push me past the line you agreed to, and I won’t be gentle about it.”
“Now move.”
She obeyed, legs carrying her before her brain caught up. Her confidence slipped, quiet and fast. _Who even was he?_ For a second, she wondered if the gentleman was human at all. ** And what if I say I won't move an inch? she uttered, a heavy sigh escaping her lips. It didn't last long as she was roughly pinned to the wall, legs pulled up to his waist.
She couldn’t make sense of what just happened. Her mind lagged, trying to catch up. But the feeling in her chest? She didn’t hate it.
Her reckless mouth was going to get her killed. She had no idea what kind of man she was dealing with — and that was the problem. Her V shape touched there, in the most unlikely circumstance.
I can do unimaginable things to you… Aside from my job as an agent, I can be more. He inches closer, rubbing her inner thighs gently with his gaze on her lips.
“Unfortunately, you’re not my type.”
He let go, dropping her like she weighed nothing. She stumbled back, shock freezing her face.
Vickie stood dumbstruck after he left. Oh no!! That guy is something else; he played me.
.........
Four hours in his orbit, and she was already drained. Nickel hadn’t paused once.
From her cabinet, she glared through the glass, all patience gone.
“The grumpiness. The ice. Can I not breathe?”
Eddie muttered it like an accusation. “Actual murderer.”
After a series of contemplations, she walked into his office.
,, Can I go home now, Mr.? I'm exhausted and am feeling peckish, Eddie pleaded.
,,,,, He didn’t react.
Still signing, page after page, like her voice wasn’t even in the room.
Her words landed flat, weightless. Insignificant.
Eddie, aware of his ignorance, took a deep breath as she proceeded for the door in an attempt to leave.
,,,,
“Messing around?”
The question stopped her cold. Earlier he hadn’t even looked at her. Now he had questions.
“Don’t. I’m not lazy, Mr. Whatever. You're assuming, stop. I’m just hungry.” Eddie blasted, stumbling out.
