C͟h͟a͟s͟e͟ A squeeze on my shoulder brings me out of my reverie. I peer up at Janice, realizing suddenly that my eyes are filled with tears. I see nothing but compassion on her face. I had hired her when I first moved here, nearly a year ago. She was sweet on the outside but once you looked deeper, there was a no nonsense attitude around her. She kept her cool even when we butt heads. Her attitude would normally have been cause for immediate termination but within that shell was a mother.
