"I appreciate everything you've done for us," Luke begins slowly.
I make myself meet his eyes, his face unreadable. "It's the least I can do... " my voice breaks. "After everything I did." I sigh and lean my head forward, resting it between my hands.
"I owe you so much," I murmur as I stare at the menu. "I'll never be able to repay you... I'm so sorry Luke..." My voice shakes. "I ask myself every day why I did this to her. I..." I hesitate before I speak the words that I'll never be able to take back.
"I hate myself for what I've done to her... I think about it every day. I've thought about it for the past decade and it wasn't until I graduated that I realized how f****d up everything had been... How f****d up everything I did was..."
He says nothing, allowing me to speak
