We didn’t even make it back to where we had left the vehicle that Cassie had driven to the compound before Emerson was asleep in my arms. The rest of the wolves and I had shifted and come here on foot, but Oscar and I joined Adele and Cassie on the drive back to the airport. My mate was exhausted and too tired to shift, and there was no way I was letting her out of my sight again. Thankfully Cassie had a few spare sets of clothes in the trunk of the car, so I didn’t have to continue to give her mother an eye full.
