꧁Chapter Five. ꧂
He ignored her.
Ian ignored her.
Elyse bolted up almost immediately as she angrily threw a pillow across the room wishing it had hit Ian on the head but the mass of fluffiness missed him only by a hair's width which made her grunt in frustration.
They had barely spent twenty four hours together and they were already having a misunderstanding, what would she expect to happen in a week's time.
"What do you want woman?" Ian turned to her with his hands placed in his pockets, the look on his face portraying the anger boiling on his inside.
"I want your attention." Elyse replied bluntly.
"What attention?" Ian asked feigning ignorance. Elyse tightened her fists beside her.
"We haven't even spent a day together and now look at us." She screamed at him.
"I would assume whatever is happening at the moment is entirely your fault."
"My fault? That I'm asking you to stop thinking about a nobody and pay attention to me, your mate, is my fault?" Elyse asked in outrage.
"Don't you ever call her that." he gritted out. For some reason, he hadn't been able to bring himself to forget about Kelly. She was gone, although that was entirely his fault, he wanted her back but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. The expectations he had of himself wouldn't let him. He was the alpha, he had to lead by example, he couldn't allow a traitor to live in the midst of his pack members. That was exactly what she was and maybe it was time he started seeing her as that.
"So now you're defending her?"
"Excuse me." Ian barked, not wanting to involve himself in any more argument with Elyse. He didn't love her, he just felt bonded to her in a way that he had no control of and there was something strange about the Aura she exuded. Something that had never been there two years ago when he last saw her.
"Where are you going?" Elyse asked. She didn't like the fact that he was ignoring her.
"None of your business." he spat and walked out on her. He made his way downstairs to the living room of the packhouse as he took a bottle of whiskey from the sidebar.
There was a brief shuffling sound behind the door which caused him to pause as he anticipated what was behind it.
One of his guards walked inside and bowed to him.
"Someone is here to see you Alpha." he said.
"Who is it?" Ian asked.
"Gamma Phillip's sister." the guard replied.
"Let her in." he ordered. Ian knew her, a friend of Kelly's and the sister of his gamma. Rebellious in her own way, refusing to bend to convention and what was agreed to be the societal norm. Ian couldn't blame her, infact he envied her. He would never have taken the alpha title if it wasn't for the fact that he was the only heir.
The door opened again for the second time and Lucy walked inside. Donned in a pink hotpant and a yellow sweatshirt.
"Hello Alpha." she didn't bow, not that he would force her to anyway.
"What do you want?" he swallowed.
"I'm here to see my friend."
"She isn't home." Ian stated simply. He didn't want to give any explanations to anyone especially not to Lucy.
"She isn't back? We would have to look for her then because it's almost twelve pm and she left in the middle of the night yesterday…" Ian didn't wait to hear the remainder of what she was saying as he immediately cut her off.
"How did you know she left?" he asked her.
"Well, she borrowed my car. Said she would return it today and I'm worried she isn't back yet."
Ian almost laughed, this was comical. Yesterday, he had wondered why she didn't allow his driver to drive her out but now he knew why. She had an alternative.
"You can take one of the cars in my garage and leave." Ian said.
Lucy blinked.
"What? Don't you think we should go in search of her?"
"She's an adult Lucy." Ian said matter of factly.
"And she is also your mate. You should be worried."
"You can leave now Lucy." it seemed he would just continue to get into more arguments today. Ian ignored her and turned around but he was forced to pause when he heard the last voice he wanted to hear for the day. Eleanor, Kelly's mother and what she said?
"Where is my daughter? Ian."

"How much do all of these cost?" Kelly asked the trader as she added a few more avocados to the basket. She was hungry, really hungry and would have opted to go to a restaurant, only she didn't have any idea where restaurants were or what they would look like especially in a such a new environment as the human realm.
She had considered herself very lucky to have stumbled across this petty trader across the road and even more lucky to have found a few cash in Lucy's car. Otherwise, she might as well resort to stealing.
"Thirty dollars." the woman replied. For some reason, this made her heart beat twice faster than it should have. She had only two hundred dollars which she knew she would exhaust before the end of tomorrow. She couldn't afford to spend thirty dollars at a go, she still had to consider shelter, having a place to sleep until she found a new job.
"I was hoping you could sell them all for twenty five. I'm basically new here and don't have much on me." Kelly could swear she had seen the trader roll her eyes at her. This was certainly not the first time someone had used this line on her.
"I'm sorry I can't go that low and trust me, these are the best prices you would see around here." The trader declined as she muttered a few more words under her breath.
Kelly slumped her shoulders as she didn’t have any more choice and handed the money over to the other woman who helped her in packing up the goods.
She needed to find a job as soon as possible even if it was collecting garbage.
"Um, by the way, do you happen to know a place where there's vacancy for uh, unskilled labor?" she asked the trader. She was educated but she couldn't do anything related to that stuff as she didn't want to reveal her identity.
"None that I know of but there's this jewelry shop down the road. They are always taking in sales attendants however the employees usually don't stay longer than four days in there." the trader explained.
Now that sounded creepy but it only perked Kelly's interest.
"Do you have any idea why?"
"No. It's none of my business knowing that."
"Alright but could you describe the place for me?" Kelly probbed her. This could be her only chance and it couldn't be much of a big deal anyway and she was also a werewolf so she had an advantage.
"It's just down this road. Pretty much recognisable." the trader told her.
"Okay then, thank you." Kelly nodded and picked up her items.
"Have a good day." she said to the trader as she left. Slipping back into her car, she started the engines and plunged the car into the road in search of this creepy jewelry shop.

If anything, the store was totally unrecognizable and Kelly would have missed it if she hadn't been so vigilant and inquisitive. She parked her vehicle on the other side of the road as she leaped out of it.
Cracking her fingers nervously as she made her way into the shop that looked like a witch's dormain. In reality, it was.
The scent of magic filled the air, Kelly almost choked on it as she wondered if she hadn't made a wrong move coming here. She turned around to leave deciding it was best for her to be out of here before she was noticed by anyone.
"Halt." Kelly found herself succumbing to the words of the stranger involuntarily.
"Turn around." the voice ordered and Kelly found herself doing just that.
"Who are you?"
"Kelly?" Right now, she don't know if she was asking or telling.
"I didn't ask for your name. What are you here for?" The voice asked sharply.
"For a job. I'm seeking a job." Kelly replied, a bit of confidence seeping into her veins.
"Are you sure you can work for me?" Kelly looked around her frantically but the whole store was empty.
"Who am I speaking with?" she asked instead.
The figure emerged from the shadows to reveal a young woman with blonde hair and onyx eye balls, She was apparently older than kelly was but fairly past the age of twenty three.
"You're a witch?" Kelly asked in disbelief. "But they said this was a jewelry store."
"It is a jewelry store my dear. It is whatever you believe it to be." the woman replied.
Kelly looked briefly around the store but all she could see were talismans and amulets. Everything pertaining to witchcraft. No sign of jewelries. Then all of a sudden the scenery change and the sunlight fell over the building giving it a modern look as hints of gold began to seep out of the shelves. It took Kelly almost ainute for her eyes to adjust to the sudden transformation and when it did, the sight before her amazed her. All sorts and types of jewelry.
"What is this place?" she asked the witch in a state of awe.
“Like I asked earlier, would you like to work here?”
“N-no, I mean yes, if you would let me.” She stuttered.
“Then come with me.” The woman said beckoning on Kelly to follow her through another door.
