Quinn lay in her bed that evening, staring at the ceiling, his words stayed echoing in her mind. She didn’t understand why he had said that, why he had done that.
After a long moment of thinking, she gets up from her bed and decides to shower to clear her head, as the water from the shower pours down, she begins to let go of the thought of him again.
Stepping out, wrapped in a towel, she moves toward her window to glance outside, as she’s heard movements. That’s when she saw him, Kyle slipping out of the apartment, helmet in his hand, mounting his motorbike. So many emotions began to run through her again.
She leaned against the windowframe, watching as he kicked off, the engine rumbling softly into the night. She watches him go off, and feels sad again because once more hes going to be with other girls.
She gets dressed and goes downstairs to quickly prep something to eat, watches Netflix on the coach and sleeps off distracted.
The next morning.
Quin wakes up abruptly to a loud knock on the door. She immediately wakes up, rubs her eyes and goes over to open the door.
Knock knock
“ Im coming im coming “ Quinn says still sleepy and with heavy eyes.
When she opened it, there he was—Kyle. Helmet in hand, leaning casually against the doorframe, that familiar smirk tugging at his lips. Her breath hitched. “Skipping school already?” he asked, teasing lightly, but there was a softness in his eyes, something vulnerable, almost hesitant.
“What, what time is it” she said stammering.
Kyle pushed off the frame and stepped closer, hands shoved in his pockets. “Your brother had some errands to run so he asked me to take you to school today.” he teased, his grin widening. “And I wouldn’t want him to think im not responsible to look out for you so, get dressed and were leaving” he said with a commanding aura.
Quinn doesn’t bother to argue, she opens the door wide enough for him to come in and sit in the living room, and she goes straight I her room to get dressed.
While showering, she was stuck wondering what could have been so important her brother cancelled on her without telling her.
She hurried out of the bathroom, drops of water dripping of her legs, as she goes straight to her closet. Her hand picks out the first thing in front of her, which is a dress.
She doesn’t wear dresses, but she felt pretty this morning and decides to slip on a body on dress.
She slips it on perfectly, and goes over to her dressing table and lets her hair down. She brushes it well and uses a curling iron to straighten it out. She then does a lip combo and little makeup as usual.
“ okay im ready to go now” Quinn steps out of her room and strolls casually down the steps.
Kyle who had been staring at his phone stops abruptly and stares at her immediately. He couldn’t believe it, she looked so stunning.
“ damn!!!” He utters immediately, his mouth left open in shock at how stunningly gorgeous she looked.
“ are we leaving now, it’s getting late yeah” Quinn says abruptly realizing he was staring at her too much and her charms worked perfectly .
“Dressed like that no we aren’t, im in charge today so im taking you out” Kyle utters immediately, his gaze now tracing down her body, looking at how the cloth cling to her so perfectly.
Quinn pauses and takes a deep look at him. They stare at each other for sometime and she breaks the silence
“ where are we going then”, she said flirtatiously. She knew that was going to happen.
“You’ll see “ with a large smile across his face.
They make their way out of the apartment together, after having breakfast.
Kyle starts the engine, helps her wear a helmet and sit comfortably on the bike. The bike lurched forward, and suddenly the streets blurred around them. Wind whipped through her hair, tugging at her clothes, sending shivers down her spine. Each bump in the road made her grip tighten, not cause of fear, but because she was so close to him, feeling his heartbeat through his back, his hair, beneath her hands made her happy.
“You okay back there?” he asked, glancing slightly over his shoulder.
“I… yeah,” she whispered, though her voice wavered due to the breeze around them.
He smiled, and continued riding.
The sun was shining, but not too aggressively, and the hum of traffic slowly fading-until they reached a narrow road. The place was calm, and deserted, and inside it was a small house.
Kyle killed the engine and swung off the bike. Quinn followed, stepping down. The silence was heavy and loud. She could hear her heart beating fast as she looked around.
“Finally… somewhere quiet”. he murmured under his breath.
Quinn wrapped her arms around herself, her gaze observing their environment. It wasn’t only quiet, but it was secluded.
She turned to look at him, her voice light, but shaky. “Where is this place, is this your hideout where you bring all the girls you sleep with.”
Kyle froze, his jaw tightening, he looked up at her for a moment and didn’t say anything. He understand where she was saying that from considering his actions. He responds after much silence,“No,” he said firmly, his voice low and rough. “I don’t bring anyone here. Youre the first person”.
For a long beat, neither of them spoke. Kyle moves past her and grabs the apartment keys from his pocket.
He opens the apartment door, and steps back for her to enter inside.
Quinn steps inside and is stunned. The apartment is like entering another world, it was woody and cool, art frames hanging on the corner of the walls, fairy lights lazily hung across, the brown but yet cute couch.
Everything about it screamed comfort, peace and quiet. And not something she would have expected from him.
She sat on the couch, still looking around, when she caught his eyes on her. He leaned lazily against the wall, arms crossed, as though he had been waiting for this exact moment.
“You look impressed,” he said, his tone sounding surprised.
She shook her head. “I just… didn’t expect this. It’s literally so calm and peaceful here.” She said looking at the window that had a bright view of the sky and the clouds.
He moved closer to her, and sat beside her. He tilted his head, studying her the way she had been studying his apartment. “Not everything about me is what you think.” He said coldly.
She looks over at him, and they both stare into each other’s eyes. She doesn’t notice when Kyle closes the space between them until she feels the warmth of his hand brush against her jaw.
“Quinn,” he murmured, not taking his gaze of her.
Her heart stuttered. Her lips parted to say something, but the words never came. And the next second, his lips were on hers.
The kiss was slow at first, he didn’t want to force her so, he was giving her a chance to pull away. But she didn’t. She leaned in instead, her fingers gripping his shirt, pulling him closer. His other hand slid to the open side of her back, pressing her against him, deepening the kiss.
This time, they were both sober. No excuses. Just what they both wanted but couldn’t admit it.
