Glad to be away from Vampire Court, I quickly jogged to the side where a line of taxis were waiting for customers. They were probably there for the human bank across the street, but this worked out well for me.
“Lucinda!”
A sleek black car pulled up next to me and the door swung open to reveal a familiar face. “Get in.”
A smile tugged on my lips as I got in the car. “You didn’t have to come pick me up, William.”
“I wanted to.” He waited for me to fasten my seatbelt before giving the driver instructions. “How did it go?”
“Ummm…” I glanced at the driver, but didn’t recognise him. “I’ll tell you when we’re home.”
