{The love of money is the root of all evil, but let me tell you that the lack of it is the godda** seed}
"What happened," Tom barely puffed out through his nostrils the moment he entered the huge bank safe, whose size wasn't really necessary considering the amount of money that the safe usually contained,
"What did you do?" yelled Tom, the moment his left foot stepped through the doorway, almost like a man in excruciating agony,
"What did you do?" Shouted Tom, the second time, without taking his eyes away from Jack whose hands shook so hard that it seemed like the gun would fall from his hand at any moment,
With eyes glazed red and with a shocked look on his face, Jack spoke,
"I...I panicked. He pointed his gun at me first. I never... meant to kill him," Jack managed to say in between huge gulps of breath, before turning around to look at the body of the dead man he shot in three distinguishable places,
"This is messy," Billy said, thankful that Tom, their boss decided to leave the women employee they were with, in the lobby before entering the safe,
The dead man laid unmoving on the floor, and without the gaping hole in his head, a normal citizen would have assumed he was just peaceably lying there, easily ignoring the two holes in his shirt, and the unseen blood on it since the black colour of his outfit, made his shirt seem wet,
"I didn't even see him or realize what he was up to until he pointed the gun at my head. I...I saw him reach for his radio and I immediately panicked and shot him," Jack continued in a braver tone, trying to mask his emotions behind a brave facade realizing that they were still robbing a bank and there was no way he could undo what he had done,
"It's fine there's no use in crying over spilt milk," Tom replied, doing his best to do damage control while also feeling a greater sense of urgency in leaving the bank,
"Jack, finish packing the rest of the money. As for Billy, move the body to the other side of the table where it can't be easily seen," He quickly said, looking around as a thousand things ran through his mind trying his best to make sure that there was nothing else they needed to do or take care of,
Immediately and with just a little bit of hesitation, Billy grabbed the hands of the corpse and was still in the act of dragging it to the other side of the metal table where all the money in the safe had been placed, while Jack was almost done filling the three bags they had brought with them with money when they all heard the sound all robbers dreaded the most since the beginning of time- a police siren,
Sirens to be exact.
Their hearts stopped at the same time as they all froze, then skipped a beat before it began beating like before, even though pounding would be a better word,
Jack was the first to speak, as his brave mask broke into pieces as drops of sweat were clearly beginning to appear on their faces
"The cops are here. They aren't supposed to be here, are they?" He fearfully asked, glancing away from the money he had been packing to the dead body that had been on the way to the inner side of the safe, but which Billy immediately abandoned the moment he heard the sirens,
Discarding all else, he picked one of the three bags Jack had packed full with money before speaking,
"Yes, they aren't supposed to but they are here now and we need to leave, right boss?" He asked turning to Tom with a confused look on his face unable to fathom why they were still in the bank and not running out of it as fast as they could,
Almost as if jerked back into reality, Tom turned back around, away from the rest of the money still stacked on the table in the safe and towards the doorway of the safe which was the direction where the police sounds were coming from,
"Let's go," He snapped, picking up the second bag gesturing for Jack to pick the last one,
"We're leaving," Tom said, walking out of the Safe without looking back clearly expecting his gang members to do the same,
Billy threw a greedy gaze at all the money they were leaving behind but regardless, stepped out the moment Tom did, while Jack didn't even glance back, he was internally glad to be leaving the back,
All three of them got to the lobby walking as fast as they could with each of them carrying a black bag filled with cash,
They stepped into the lobby, completely ignoring the employees who no longer had their heads buried in the ground. Instead, most of them felt brave and strong and stood upright even with their hands tied together, especially since they could all see the police cars parked in front of the bank,
No longer scattered, they stood together, with defiant eyes, blocking the robber's paths no longer sub servant to their captor's will,
"The police are here," said the chosen mouthpiece of the employees bravely with his hands tied as he stepped forward to confront the robbers,
He was one of the accountants that wasn't really anyone's favorite person so no one seemed particularly scared for him as they all nodded in agreement to what their fellow employee just said,
"If you drop the bags of money all of you might get to walk out of here with a reduced sentence,". The male employee said as he continued to bravely look at the three robbers in front of him along with the guns they held, while sneaking glances at the police cars parked outside blaring their sirens,
" Yeah but you won't get to see that happen," Tom mercilessly replied pointing his gun at him watching without a him of surprise as he fearfully stepped aside for them to pass,
They had just passed the glass doors on the lobby heading for the back exit in hopes that the police aren't there yet when a speaker suddenly booms which makes them hat in their tracks,
"It's the police. Come out with your hands on your head. Failure to comply and we'll come right in. You have two minutes," announced the strange but confident voice using a Megaphone,
Without missing a beat or waiting for anyone else to speak, Tom spoke,
" Let's go," he then said, walking in the direction of the back exit, oblivious to the scared looks billy and Jack threw at one other, each of them wondering in their minds if the back exit was safe or they were permanently trapped,
The turned the corner leading to the door labelled exit, only for them to discover Ray sitting down on the floor like a homeless person, looking up at them with a worried look in his eyes, before getting up the moment he spotted them,
"The police are here. What are we going to do?" Ray asked having heard enough to know that they were in serious trouble,
" WE, are leaving and you aren't coming with us," Tom aggressively replied annoyed that he was having a conversation when instead, he should be walking out,
