The moment the robbers had been caught and shot, some police officers immediately dropped into the bank with the sole aim of doing nothing else but playing the hero knowing fully well how much the media loved hostages especially in a small town like theirs.
Dressed immaculately in their police uniforms, one of them began trying to break down the entrance door by slamming his body at it as hard as he could while thinking in his mind of how getting a few bruises from the glass door might somehow get him a promotion,
However, before his goal could be met after slamming his body against it more than twenty times, one of his colleagues finally managed to get the keys from one of the female employees who threw it down from the only window at the side of the bank ( no idea why they didn't use the back exit)
Internally snarling, he watched as his fellow officer jiggled the keys to the doors he leaned on right in front of him,
"If you'll be so kind as to step aside Officer Payton," asked Jerry with a big smile on his face adjusting his tie a little with his left while holding the keys with his right hand,
Without missing a beat, Payton replied,
"Of course. You should quickly open the doors. I'm glad that you decided to step in and help me with the hostages," with a bigger smile on his face, stepping to the side while urging Jerry with his hands to quickly open the doors for him to enter,
"Well...you do need all the help you can get since even as a police officer you couldn't identify the reinforced glass. Even bullets would have a hard time going through," fired Jerry with a huge smirk on his face, inserting the key into the lock as he slowly began to turn it as he continued to speak,
"Some of us work with our heads, while others simply don't,"
After he was done turning the key in the lock, he pulled the door open, with the intention of taking one glance behind him at Payton before stepping in when he was suddenly surprised to see their captain right behind him,
"Good morning Captain Henry," they both chorused, saluting at the same time the moment their captain appeared in their midst,
"At ease." He said waving at them as he stepped closer to the opened door, which made Jerry step aside to allow him enough room to pass,
"Let's go. I figured it was only proper to check on the hostages so I decided to check out the situation," said Captain Henry stepping into the lobby, surprised to see so many employees crowding the front door area,
"Of course," Said Payton sarcastically underneath his breath, thankful for the noisy atmosphere created by the thankful and teary employees who seemed glad to be rescued that was until they all began to narrate the story of the events that happened as they each knew it,
"Oh-kay," Captain Henry suddenly shouted, which helped in quieting some of them done,
"These gentlemen will answer all your questions and tell you whatever you need to know. The Paramedics will also be here any moment from now. I just wanted to let you know that you're in good hands," the captain spoke giving a good speech that evoked appreciation from the crowd as they all felt better after listening to him,
However, Jerry and Payton definitely didn't feel that way. Especially Jerry who tries his best to hide the ugly emotions that were threatening to spill out of his chest as he stared at his Captain whose sole purpose there was to take all the glory,
"I'll be taking my leave now," Captain Henry continued, raising his hand to grab some of their already waning attention,
"And if you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask these gentlemen here," was the last thing he said before nodding towards Payton and Jerry as he left the lobby heading for the crime scene where he was sure his attention was actually needed,
"Asshole," they thought in their minds even as they nodded back at him, as they watched him leave them to do all the work while he got all the credit.
Their attention was still on him as he stepped out of the bank when they suddenly saw media buses begin to arrive one after another, as fast as they could, each of them hoping to be the first to report the news,
"We might as well round this up and head of the crime scene," Payton whispered loud enough for only Jerry to hear,
"Fine, I'll take the left side. You get the right," Jerry replied abandoning the notion that staying here would get him any benefits whatsoever,

After making sure to silently close the door behind me, I stood at the corner of the bank that led to the lobby taking short peeks at what was going on in the lobby while waiting for a chance to escape,
With a five minute interval each, I was just about to take my third peek at what the officers I had spotted were doing, as I waited for them to leave when unexpectedly my eyes suddenly met those of one of the two police officers that were there whom I felt it wasn't even the nicer of the two,
" f**k…!!!" I internally screamed already trying to duck back and hide in my corner when I realized how guilty that would make me seem,
Still, I forced myself to come out trying my best not to drag my feet as I showed myself while hiding my shaky hands behind my back since it was the least I could do while being stared down by a police officer,
I began to slowly walk forward, and even though the loud voices of everyone in the lobby filled the air, the thumping of my heart was the loudest sound in my ears, and it got worse the closer I got the police officer since their gradual silence made me feel worse as everyone's attention was on the newcomer and the newcomer was me.
The first thing I wanted to do was stay silent maintaining a calm appearance while I tried my best to answer whatever questions he threw at me, but surprisingly the opposite was the case,
I was barely four steps away from him when I lost control of my mouth and unexpectedly began to babble, 0
"Hello...Hi and am I glad everyone is safe," I softly say with an anxious chuckle at the end of it, as I try as hard as I could not to run my hands through my jet black hair
"Who are you?" Asked one of the employees standing nearby, however I would have been thankful if the question actually came from somebody else,
