Early the next morning, two luxury cars were parked side by side outside the small rented apartment. They looked too bright and out of place for the quiet street.
In front of them, Andy and Stanley stood in suits. Both looked unusually formal.
Winnie stepped out. Stanley took off his sunglasses and walked straight toward her. "Winnie, get in my car. I will take you."
Behind him, Andy calmly opened his door. "Winnie, get in mine."
Winnie gave them a cold look. "Hence, eager to get rid of my baby? No need to rush. The results will be out soon."
She walked past them without another word and got into the taxi that was already waiting.
On the way to the hospital, the driver glanced at the rearview mirror. "Miss, those two luxury cars are following us. Is everything okay?"
Winnie's faint smile tightened. She rested a hand on her belly. "It is fine."
Deep down, she thought they just wanted to destroy her child.
The three of them arrived at the hospital one after another. Winnie stayed calm, but the other two looked restless.
Stanley grabbed the doctor. "Are you sure this result will not be wrong?"
The doctor nodded. "Do not worry. The accuracy is one hundred percent."
Stanley finally let out a breath of relief. Then Andy's firm voice came from behind him. "Stanley, this is my child."
Stanley's jaw tightened. "Andy, do not speak too soon."
Andy kept his eyes fixed on Winnie. "Winnie is my girlfriend. No matter what the result is, the child is mine."
Stanley frowned. "Andy, what are you talking about?"
"Back when you dragged me into that game, did you ever treat her like your girlfriend?"
Andy's calm face cracked for a moment. "Also, you knew it was a game all along. Now look at you."
Stanley opened his mouth but said nothing.
After a pause, he seemed to decide something. He walked to Winnie. His voice stayed proud. "Winnie, if the baby is mine, you can keep it. I will compensate you and take you away from here."
Andy stepped in right after. "Winnie, you better hope the child is mine. Otherwise, you will not get a single cent."
Winnie sat in her chair and let out a cold laugh while watching them argue. "Funny. You were the ones who wanted me to abort it because I might use the child to climb up. Now you act emotional. Who are you trying to fool?"
Her mocking tone made both of them look darker.
Andy spoke in a low voice. "Winnie, stopping you from climbing is one thing. The child is another."
Winnie suddenly stood up. "To me, they are the same thing."
How could she forget what they had done to her?
All her pain came from these two men standing in front of her.
Now they still dared to think she would give birth to their child.
In their dreams.
Before the tension could rise again, a nurse's voice came from the end of the corridor.
"Winnie, the test results are ready."
