Chapter 2
Ava opened her eyes groggily taking in the familiar surrounding of her bedroom, the sunlight peeking through the window casting a warm glow on her face. She stretched feeling the softness and the little pull in her muscles.
She sat up on the bed and her gaze fell on the frame in the night stand, a picture of her mother Ruby, her dad Julian, and herself. A smile appeared on her lips as she felt a pang of responsibility in her heart.
She stood on her feet and walked to the frame of her mother and father on the wall.
“Good morning mummy,”she said and kissed her mother's cheek, “good morning father”she said and kissed her father's cheek before proceeding to the bathroom.
She has been doing this for the past seven years now, waking up in the morning and threatening her late parents' photos like it was them. And finally got over their death.
A few years back after she left for college, she rented her own apartment and stopped staying with Sophia.
Just two years ago she opened her own jewellery shop, with the thought of keeping her parents legacy going.
At first it was really hard for her, but she was determined to make her parents' name known out there.
She started as bead making like her mother and design like her father, and now she can say business has been doing pretty fine for her.
Even if her shop is still small it has been known around the state and other states in the country.
She took her toothbrush and paste, opened the paste and spread it on the toothbrush before covering it. She turned on the tap and placed the toothbrush under the running water, after a few seconds she turned off the tap and took the toothbrush to her teeth. Brushing it.
After an hour she came out of her apartment dressed for work, she had a bag hanging on her shoulders and a one inch black heels with a blue dress that ended mid thigh.
She stopped a taxi and got into it, and in about thirty minutes they were already at the front of her shop.
She came out of the taxi with a big smile on her lips, she turned to the taxi driver and tipped him before turning back to her shop.
As she walked to the shop, a big piece of writing was at the top and it said MORALES. She pushed the glass door open only to be met with her few workers.
The shop wasn't big, probably the same size as her living room. It wasn't big but it was big enough for them to work. Their design by the left and a tableware made all their designs come to life is by the tight. And a show glass filled with samples of their designs by the glass wall facing the public.
“Good morning everyone”Ava greeted,
“Good morning boss,”the three workers replied.
“You all came early today, that's new”she said as she dropped her bag on her desk taking her seat behind the desk.
“Maybe it's because we didn't go clubbing last night,”Riley said as she dropped a file on Ava's desk.
“Yeah you didn't”Ava grinds.
“You guys won't believe what I am about to tell you,”Betty said and they all turned their gaze to her standing behind their working desk where she is making a necklace with beads.
“Let me guess, you finally threw your gold digger of a boyfriend out”Ariel guessed and Ava with Riley burst into laughter.
“How did you guess that right? You won't believe last night I told him I was going to stay over time. just to confirm my suspicion, only for me to return home and catch him in the act with my neighbours daughter. In my couch”Betty said her face was in a funny frown.
“Ouch”Ava winched like she was pricked with a needle.
“Finally, hope you don't go back to him?”Ariel asked.
“Never”Betty shook her head negatively. Her attention was focused on the necklace she was making.
“Did you cry?”Riley asked.
“That's ewwish girl,”Betty cringed.
“I beat that fucker up and throw him out of my house, I call my neighbour and am sure her daughter is getting the lecture of life. And also you would have seen the way Christopher was begging while crying like a baby, I would do anything to see him beg like that again”Betty Smirk.
“Crazy”Ava muttered and took the file Riley dropped on her desk.
“Boss, you should have gone clubbing with us. There was this hot set of dudes that wouldn't stop staring at us, I sure should have seen your feature Bf there”Betty said.
“I agree with you,”both Ariel and Riley replied.
“union of psychopaths”Ava muttered to herself before opening the file.
“What's this?”she ask Riley,
“A contract from Blackwood's”Riley answered.
“What?”Ava, Ariel, and Betty exclaimed.
“They sent us a contract, what is it about?”Ariel asked.
“I couldn't finish reading it, but they want us to work with them and boss as their jewellery designer,”Riley replied.
“Am not reading this but signing straight away, this is a dream come true.”Ava said and the girls broke into laughter.
Inside a large office designed with Modern furniture was a figure standing by the glass window, overlooking the city.
The walls of the office as different photos and designers of jewelleries, with a hug circled desk and an executive chair behind it.
Ethen Blackwoods held a photo containing a little boy and girl on his right Palm, with his left arm in his pocket.
His tall figure casting a huge Shadow in the office, he wore a white long sleeve shirt and the first two buttons were left undid. He wore grey pants with shining black leather shoes.
He has a thick eyebrows with deep brown eyes, thin lips lines. He is the definition of handsome.
The door was opened by his assistant, Rechal lee. She walked into the office and stood before the desk.
“Boss she called,” Rechal called but he didn't turn to look at her or answer her call, so she just kept her mouth shut and waited for him.
After a while he turned and faced her, and kept the photo in his pants pocket.
“Did you get her to sign the contract?”Ethan asked the first thing that popped up in his mind.
“Yes boss, she already signed it before I got there,”Rechal replied.
“Did she read it through?”Ethan asked his gaze meeting with hers and she gulped down the invisible lump forming in her throat.
“ I don't think so, when I asked her what she thought about the contract she just replied with. Am ok with it”Rechal answered and he nodded.
“Ava morales,”Ethan mumbled Ava's name to himself.
“Ok, what's in my schedule for the afternoon?”Ethan asked.
“You are free for the afternoon since we have done all the morning schedule, you have a meeting with Georgia by six PM at a tasty restaurant,”Rechal replied.
“Ok then, get me some coffee you forgot to bring this morning”Ethan said.
“My apologies, I will get it right away”she bowed and left.
Ethan reached for his pocket and brought out the photo from it, he placed a kiss on the photo before smiling.
“I will finally have you to myself, baby girl”he smiled as he kept staring at his photo.
“Aunty Sophia I told you that I am fine, am eating well you don't have to worry about me”Ava groaned as she walked into the airport while talking on the phone with Sophia.
“Work is absolutely fine, I've told you countless times to worry about yourself and not me. Don't forget to take your medications”Ava said and hummed a reply.
“Ok bye, have a nice evening sleep”she kissed the phone before ending the call.
She went to the waiting area, and found herself a chair to pass the time while waiting for Lily's flight to land.
An hour had gone by, and the announcement of the arrival of Lily's flight had her standing on her feet. A wave of excitmenting rushed over her.
She saw Lily coming from a distance and started waving her hand for her to see her, Lily so far from afar and immediately rushed to Ava and they embraced.
“Gosh I miss you so much,”Lily gushed.
“You've grown so much lily”Ava exclaimed as broke the hug.
“You too girl, you look thirty”Lily joked and Ava frowned.
“Come on I was just pulling your legs, you look twenty two”lily grinds and Ava smiles.
“Let's go home, I have a lot to gist you about”Ava took her louage.
“Me too,”Lily replied as they left the airport and stopped a taxi.
“I've missed Canada so much”lily said as she fell on Ava's bed with a towel wrapped around her chest she just came out of the bathroom.
“Hmm, instead of missing Canada you should come help me rang your dirty clothes”Ava replied.
“Not a chance, and besides they aren't dirty,”Lily said.
She stood up and stripped off her towel and lay naked on Ava's bed.
“huh huh, rule number one. No walking about or sleeping naked in my house”Ava spoke, taking her gaze from Lily to the clothes she was folding.
“Well suit yourself, because I'm gonna break all those rules,”Lilly said, using the confronter to cover her nakedness.
“How long are you staying in Canada? And how is mom and dad?”Ava asked, referring to Lily's parents.
“Five months, that's how long my vacation is, they are fine,”Lily replied.
“You said you have good news for me, what is it?”Lily asked.
“Here”Ava reached for her bag and brought out her own copy of the document she signed with blackwood and threw it to Lily who caught it before it could land on her face.
She opened it and her eyes went wide.
“A contract with the blackwoods? This is your dream come true”Lily said and Ava nodded with a proud smile, lily went through the file and her eyes widened again when she saw the consequences of contract termination.
“Did you read this through?”Lily asked.
“No,”Ava basically replied.
“Girl you are in trouble”lily said and threw the document to Ava, Ava eyes widened as she finished reading the contract.
“Holy Christ”she gasps.
