“I take it Dorian found you?” Stephen asked as dime-sized hail slid down around them, never hitting them. “Yes.” “He's a vampire, still?” “Yes. But Tillie and I are trying to fix that,” she said. “Wicked good,” he said. A rocky cliff appeared behind them while the rose. They were rising up a mountain side. “Nothing against Code, I hope?” “Uh… no,” she said. “Of course not.” Nothing I'm going to tell you about, anyway. “What if he remains a vampire?” he asked, hovering them over a flat spot on the mountain. Stephen brought them to a gentle landing. Zofia wallowed in relief when her feet finally felt solid ground beneath them. The rain had quit, and the sun poked out. The chilly air made her shiver. They'd risen above the clouds, high in the mountains. Snow-capped peaks in the distance
