Chapter 1

The sound of her mother’s voice echoed loudly through her bed chamber. “ALIN, get your ass up, you will be late for school and I am NOT excusing you for your laziness just because you are a Princess!” Alin sat up almost in a trance-like state, a growl of disgust escaped her throat. Her eyes shot open in an instant of regret as her mother’s face was now inches from her own, her eyes sparked in an unnatural shade of green. Her warm breath hitting her cheeks. “You are not yet ready to challenge or take over my role pup… I would advise you to carefully examine your next move and place the attitude into a better form of energy…” Queen Luna’s voice was sharp and stern. “Yes mother…” Alin muttered to Maeve as she slipped out of her covers. Stretching her arms towards the ceiling before she let her bare feet hit the fluffy microfiber rug at her bedside. “I was just trying to wake up, I am sorry.” Maeve walked over to her daughter. She brushed a raven curl from her face and sighed. “I am sorry Moon Bug, today is just hard.” Alin stared at her mother, she had hardly aged since that unfortunate day 14 years ago at the cliffs' end. Her white hair practically glowing in the light of the sun, her jade green eyes still bright as that day but with small crows' feet at their edges. Regardless, she was still beyond comparison to most if not all the women in the pack. Her eyes drifted from the Luna to herself in the mirror. She did not have her mother’s pale skin but that of her late father, light tan skin that made her eyes of jade stand out. The only thing she seems to get from her mother is other than her height. Her hair was a dark raven and in large ringlets that fell to the middle of her back. 14 years ago to this day, Anie, the Moon Goddess, took her father, King Alpha Anzlin away to the higher planes. She was so young she hardly remembered being there when he fell. The smell of copper and her mother's scent were all that stuck in her memory. The blue fire from the ascension mixed with the overbearing smell of the smoke the Elders used. She had tried over the years to push the memory to the back of her mind. The scum who had killed her father was never caught and believed to be a rogue wolf, and even when the Delta’s tried to follow the scent it was lost at the water's edge. Alin looked at her mother one more time before the Luna shooed her to the bathroom to get ready for the annoying day before her. She slipped into the full-sized bathroom off the side of her bed chamber. Teal and cream colored tiles spread across the walls and Seafoam green flooring welcomed her as she glided over to the large shower. She reached her hand in and turned the faucet to hot, hot enough to make the skin slick off of a normal human and thankful for her she wasn’t. At least she hoped she wasn’t. When she turned twelve, her wolf never appeared. No shifting. No run. Her mother told her she was just a late bloomer… Alin scoffed at the thought. ‘Late bloomer, right 18 and still no wolf…’ She stripped down and gave a final glance at herself in the mirror. She was toned but not in a masculine way, her tan olive skin melded with her raven hair. With a heavy sign she slipped into the shower and let the scolding water spill over her. She quickly washed her hair and body, dried herself, wrapped her hair in a towel and draped a second around her figure. “It will be the day my mate shows and they see this mess” she muttered to herself as she walked into her bed chamber. “Oh I am sure they will love every second of it, Miss!” the high-pitched voice chimed. Alin screamed, gripping onto the bathroom door frame. Her eyes shot over at the small table near the window. There stood a small Omega smiling brightly at the Princess. How did she not sense her…? Was she that wrapped up in her thoughts? “Merryweather…you scared me half to death…” she regained herself and stood straight once again, making her way over to the small female. Merryweather's frame was shorter than hers. Her honey blonde hair in a high bun. Her body was covered in a white blouse, a black skirt covered in a white apron, nude tights and black dress shoes, the normal uniform for the mansion's female workers. Her eyes were like a little brown doe's, large and innocent. “I am sorry, Miss. I called out to let you know I was coming in… I guess you didn’t hear me over the water.” She bowed her head apologetically. “Stop… Please. You did nothing wrong, and please call me Alin… I hate the formality of the word Miss….” She frowned. “Of course Mis-... Alin” Merryweather stopped herself. She turned to some folded clothes on the table before she spoke again. “I have helped pick out a few things for you that I feel you would approve of for school. I hope it isn't too much for public schools.” Alin couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “Whatever you pick I am sure it will be just fine, it is a human run school anyway, they don't pay attention to anything in front of them unless they want to be laid.” Merryweather’s already large eyes widened into shock. She stifled a gasp and covered her mouth as a rose blush spread across her face. “Miss…” Alin laughed a little harder. “I am sorry, unfortunately, male humans are almost just as bad as Lycan males when it comes to wanting to hump everything around them.” “I have heard from some of the other maids on those topics, I myself have been thankful enough to not have to deal with such things.” Merryweather sturmered. “I am still waiting to find my mate and when that time comes I will be content with just him.” Alin glanced at her as she turned and slipped on the clothing the Omega had collected for her. Matching bra and underwear, a thong to be exact, pale pink with a small amount of lace on the edging, a pair of blue jeans that hugged her hips just right and came right down to her ankles, a tank with blue lace around the top that allowed just the right amount over her olive colored chest and collar bone to show and a cropped cartridge with half sleeves to cover her shoulders. She slipped on a pair of black flats to finish it off. “I hope the Moon Goddess fates you with your mate Merryweather soon.” Her words were only words as she did not believe in the Goddesse's choices of mates anymore. She watched her mother have to pull herself back from a dark pool after her father’s death that almost destroyed her. They were Destined Mates, ones whose bond was basically a life line of one another… and the Goddess cut that without a single thought, if she was real or not. She ruined her mother. Alin was grateful Beta Patton and Lillian were there by her mothers side to help her through the dark period and run the packs and be their Queen till the day she was to take over which would be soon and she needed a mate to fully fulfill that role. She gave one last soft sad smile to Merryweather, who gave a small bow, before she slipped out into the large hallway leading to the main part of the mansion and made her way to the dining hall to meet with her mother.
