Chapter SeventeenIn the midst of that spine-tingling, salubrious moment punctuated by the heady feeling of Bev's embrace— flashback to that previous vision— the cacophonic scream of machines filled the air and through the woods they came in a long column, crashing through briar and twigs and early summer hay. We broke apart startled by the noise of throbbing engines. Night blanketed the heavens in its fullest, deepest sense.
