T he woman had not spoken. Not a single word. The snow continued to fall, slow and easy, making for poor visibility, so Cap kept his attention focused on the road. Route 6 was coated with frozen patches of black ice, and his wheels occasionally spun, causing the truck to drift before he managed to right its course. He glanced over at the woman. She sat rigid and upright, like she might be thinking about flinging open the door and jumping out of the truck at any moment. He gave her a smile and she tried smiling back, but it was evident that the accident still had her rattled.
