The next few days passed in a blur as I tried to make sense of Julian's proposal and the mysterious warning from Sophia. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched, and I found myself constantly looking over my shoulder. One day, as I was walking home from the art studio, I saw a familiar figure standing outside my apartment building. It was Sophia. Emily, I'm glad I caught you, she said, her eyes scanning the surrounding area nervously. "I need to talk to you again. I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But something about Sophia's expression made me trust her. What is it? I asked, following her to a nearby cafe . Sophia sat down at a table and motioned for me to join her. I know you're considering Julian's proposal, she said, her voice low and serious. But I have to warn you, Emily. He's not what he seems. I felt frustrated. What did Sophia want from me? Why was she so determined to ruin things between Julian and me? What do you mean? I asked, trying to keep my cool. Sophia leaned in close. Julian has a dark past, she said. He's been involved in some shady business dealings, and he's not above using people to get what he wants. I felt a cold chill run down my spine. Was this true? Was Julian really the kind of person Sophia was describing? Why are you telling me this? I asked, trying to understand Sophia's motives. Sophia's expression softened. Because I care about you, Emily, she said. I don't want to see you get hurt. I was so grateful towards Sophia. She was trying to protect me, even if her methods were a bit unorthodox. Thank you for warning me, I said, standing up to leave. Sophia nodded, her eyes serious. Just be careful, Emily. Julian is not a man to be trifled with. As I walked home, I couldn't help but wonder if Sophia was telling the truth. Was Julian really the kind of person she was describing? And if so, what did that mean for our future together? I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered long after my conversation with Sophia. Was Julian really the kind of person she was describing? And if so, what did that mean for our future together? As I walked into my apartment, I saw a bouquet of flowers waiting for me on the kitchen counter. They were from Julian, and the card attached to them read: "Thinking of you." I felt a surge of emotions as I looked at the flowers. Part of me was touched by Julian's thoughtful gesture, but another part of me was wary. Was this just another attempt to manipulate me? I decided to call Julian and thank him for the flowers. As we talked, I couldn't help but notice the way he seemed to be watching me, even over the phone. It was as if he could see right through me. Julian, can I ask you something? I said, trying to sound casual. Of course, Emily, he replied, his voice low and smooth. "What is it?" I took a deep breath before asking the question that had been on my mind since my conversation with Sophia. What's your past like, Julian? I asked, trying to sound nonchalant. You seem like a very private person. There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I wondered if I had overstepped. But then Julian spoke, his voice low and measured. I've made mistakes in the past, Emily, he said. But I've always tried to learn from them. And I've never hurt anyone intentionally. I had a great relief at Julian's words. Maybe Sophia had been wrong about him. Maybe he wasn't the kind of person she had described. But as I hung up the phone and looked at the flowers again, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Julian was still hiding something from me. And I couldn't help but wonder what secrets he was keeping?
