“If you really love me,” I said carefully, testing him, “would you leave your wife and kids for me?”
I expected him to hesitate, to realize how crazy that sounded, to back down.
Instead, he grabbed my hand tightly.
“Yes,” he said without hesitation. “I would do anything for you, Aria. Anything.”
Sweat broke out on my forehead. This was bad. Really bad.
He was actually willing to destroy his entire life for me. His marriage. His children. Everything.
“Let’s talk about this later, Kelvin,” I said quickly, trying to buy time. “When we’re not in the hospital—”
“No,” he cut me off, his grip tightening. “I need your answer now. I want you to be mine. Only mine.”
“Okay,” I said immediately. I needed to get out of this situation. “Okay, fine.”
