“Miss, are you going out?” Mary asked when she saw me all dressed up. Lucas had called me this morning asking to take me on a date. I said yes because I was bored staying in the house all day.
“Yes,” I replied with a smile. “I’ll be back soon.”
“But Master Jace told you to stay home today.”
I rolled my eyes when Mary said that. I still didn’t understand what Jace’s problem was. He was always telling me I couldn’t do this or that. He even warned me not to go into his office, or he would kick me out of the house.
What he didn’t know was that I always did exactly what people told me not to do. I was curious about his office and what was so special about it that he didn’t want me to see.
