Rose sat on the stoop of the bunkhouse at Roman Ranch, watching Colt head toward her from the barn. His work for the day was finished, it seemed. He’d been busy working over the last couple of days, but most of it had been here on the ranch.
She was shocked at how nice it was to blend in, to align herself with his schedule. He made it easy for her by keeping rancher’s hours, rising with the sun and going to bed not long after the sun set.
She blushed at the thought of going to bed. They were still new, still figuring each other out, but it was pleasant and calm… until bedtime.
He mussed the top of her hair when he climbed the steps, smiling.
“What are you thinking about?” he teased her. “Miss I-Blush-At-Everything.”
He took off his boots as he talked.
